Alrighty, just woke up from a long day at the semi finals and I'd figure I'd let everybody know how much I sucked :'(. It was a very interesting day, and I learned a little at least. The biggest lesson I learned was fighting sisters of battle is a pain. And I was unfortunate enough to fight the only 2 that were there. 2 out of 3 games verses sisters (with inducted guard) and the 3rd game verses my tyranid buddy. Funnily we were fighting for last place, with the exception of people that left early. Okay, lets recap a little of my games.
First game, standard deployment, basic annihilation game. I get first deployment and first turn, keep a large majority of my suits and my kroot in reserves, and put my skyrays and markerlight fire warriors on board to support my broadsides. Also forgot my pathfinders infiltrate so that sucked. He brings his entire army to the board, 3 exorcists, and lots of transports for a mech styled army. I won't bog you all down with such a long description so simply put, I lost hard. My 3 broadsides didn't kill a single exorcist, 8 gundrones get sweeping advanced on the turn they charge 1 seraphim, disruption pods, lets just say I shouldn't have even payed the points for them. Victory points, I think I had 600, he had like 1900. Major defeat. (Note: first opponent was a dick too! > )Second game, SISTERS AGAIN!!! More mech with 2 exorcists this time, inducted guard, and 3 leman russ! Not too bad I must say, what really got me was he used mystics, 3 of them. If anybody knows about mystics then they know I was in trouble. The entire game was nightfight and I didn't bring a single blacksun filter, my entire army was in reserves, and his army is a circle surrounding his mystic. This game consists of chimera's running forward spotlighting groups of anti tank and blowing them to smithereens with exorcists russ fire. Lucky me at the games end two of my crisis suits finally punch out 2 sisters of battle. The only reason why they didn't die (everything else was dead) was the assault heh heh. Worst moment, why my 10 kroot and 9 hounds assault, lose combat, and get country sweeping advanced by 10 sisters. This game, massacred. 3rd game was against my tyranid buddy and his semi nidzilla list. And I had previously did fairly well against him. But long and short, well, just short, I lost. Worst moment that game, deepstriking commander not making it in till turn 5. 3 top winners in the tourny were........orks!!! How is that not a big surprise? But it was a really fun day, got to see lots of great paint, and odd things. One ork player had toy trucks with GW parts on them to make them look orkish. Was a super awesome tau players paint scheme, or at least it looked great. I couldn't stop looking at it. Tau didn't do hot this tourny either, he was slightly above me in placing. But it was a worthwhile experience and I do look forward to redefining my list and hopefully participating next year. |

It sounds like the second player was using sisters as the parent army, with inducted guard, AND inducted Daemonhunter Inquisitors. I'm sorry to say this, but you got cheated. Daemonhunters will not ally with an army if they already have an ally (The Imperial Guard in this instance.) And he had three mystics? Were they all in seperate inquisitor teams? Because with the allies system only 1 elite can be taken (not 3)
I'm sure this doesn't matter much to you now, but this sorta stuff sticks out real strong for an Inquisition player like myself. As much as I'd love to be able to do the stuff mentioned it just isn't legal. The 3 russ' and 2 exorcist combo however is deliciously legal, I wanted to try it badly. I played Tau, and I got put up against the only other Tau player in the event out of 15 other people first round. I won (then lost to space marines.. hard) but I know it was because the organizer doesn't like Tau and doesn't keep it a secret.

Scout means they can infiltrate, I forgot to do so. No first turn markerlight fire :'(

Unless scout changed in 5th edition (I haven't used my pathfinder in a while so I'm kind of rusty) -Scout allow you to make a pre-game move. -Infiltrate allow you to place your unit closer to the enemy or flank. so Scout doesn't mean they can infiltrate.

Indeed. Scout means a free move before game starts. After deployment.
Infiltration is a method of deployment itself. Our Pathfinders can only Scout. Not Infiltrate. |

Now that we have Establish that Scout =/= Infiltrate let us go to this:
