Just as it says. To be honest, my idea was a Rocket Pod (long range), a Plasma Rifle (medium range), and a Flamer (short range). Huh? Huh?

But why? You'd need a Multitracker to shoot two weapons in a turn, and even then you would be wasting points by not allowing you to shoot all your weapons. I prefer to take specialist suits, it's just like the proverb goes "Jack of all trades, Master of none", and that doesn't sit well with me

Ach, I forgot the hard-wired war-gear. In any case, I'd be covered from any range, right?

Technically, but you aren't going to be doing much at any of the ranges. At 36-18 inches, your going to have 2 shots, 18-8 or so, you're going to have 3 shots, then past that you'll have a weak flamer. The versatility you're seeking only serves to gimp your suits. If you want something that will be able to handle a charging horde, i'd suggest a three man squad, with a Shas'vre who has TL Flamers, Burst Cannon, Hard Wired Multitracker and 2 Gun drones, the other two members having Burst Cannons and flamers

Of course, of course, I just wanted some other ideas for my seeding enclave of warriors.

The classic "jack of all trades, master of none" crisis configuration is the fireknife (plasma rifle, missile pod, multi-tracker), and a lot of players swear by it. Personally, if I (for some bizarre reason) had to play a game with only one type of model it would be twin-linked missile pods and a flamer. It's a very versatile suit and very points-efficient.

Probably the most well rounded crisis is a TL missile pod user. You can hurt nearly everything at 36 inches. Beyond this you get in to specifics, such as flamer users, fusion/plasma for heavies, ect ect.

Fireknife isn't so great.

Deathrain (TL missile pod), Firestorm (Missile pod, burst and multitracker) and Helios (Fusion, plasma and multitracker) are better rounded and much better at their specific role.

I second this.

Each one is fairly cheap (except the Helios) and very good at a wide range of targets.

When in doubt, pick these guys.

Scorefish = Devilfish + 6 Fire Warriors. It is a Scoring Devilfish.

While I'm not a fan of the fireknife, it is the most versatile. A helios is better at killing TEQ's, but it has to be closer and isn't quite as good at killing light infantry. A deathrain is cheaper and about the same against light vehicles, but not as good against marines or terminators. A burst cannon and missile pod (whatever that one's called) is better against horde but not against anything else. The fireknife is not the best at any one task, but it also doesn't suck at any tasks. Therefore, it is the best rounded suit, not the best specialist. As I said, I don't much like it and I think you get better bang for your buck with deathrains, but the fireknife can do anything decently even if it can't do anything really well.
