Default I need some cheering up

played a game with my ork compadre, we were both dog tired and played 1500 each versus smurfs and guard weanies, kicked everyone's ass until smurf player used homing beaons to deep strike 2 term squads in, including a force commander. I charged with my 12 remaining kroot, 36 attacks, but sadly none penetrated the terminator armor one squad ripped up my tanks and the other ripped up my troops and I was just left with a few crisis

Well, next time you play that particular smurf player - ask him if he will allow you to use the Fusion Blaster Turret

So Kroot got slaughtered by Terminators... what's your point? Kroot aren't worth the points you spend on them. Period. I fear Gretchin more than I fear Kroot.

the kroot did take out a few termies in follow up attacks, the joker just passed a ridiculous amount of armor checks, so they were worth their points. I like kroot. Now I just need some kroot hounds!

*Holds Lance, and rocks him back and forth*

Its okay, the mean Humans wont hurt you any more.

Comforted now? Well, if not, try this then....

Spread out your forces to prevent tightly packed death squad, i.e. termies, inquisitors, chaos marines, etc, from being able to kill a large portion of your army in short order.

If you spread out more, you will be thinner, true, but risk less from such maneuvers, and gain from higher victory points

I agree that Kroot dying to Terminators is hardly postworthy, but be glad that you killed some at all! *Terminators are something like 30-50 range base unless I'm way off, and Kroot are a point more than a measly Guardsman. *And no offence, but 7 points for an infiltrating, SM-offence stat (WS and S), bolter-toting, fieldcrafting canibal is not worth it??

the kroot made back their points worth, the termies are 40 each plus the slew of upgrades. I also had to work my butt off, since I had a slow foot-slogger ork ally. in terms of victory points I won, but not mission objectives.

Tactically speaking, you sound like you did what every good general would do... you sent the mercenaries out first to die. hehehehe

all kidding aside, check your friend's use of the rules before the game and ask if you can use a similar Tau upgrades.

Or you can just whack him with your rule book a'la Turn signals on a Land Raider.

to use a homing beacon, he'd have to have a squad or char with one behind your lines... and you really should shoot the crap out of anything with that sort of gear before it gets close. If he didn't have anything behind your lines, then he cheated and needs a good going over with the rule book (a la TSOALR)
