Default Smart Missile Rules?

for a long time i have used my smart missile systems as 2 drones that each get 4 shots. during my local hobby store tourney I was told that the 2 drones get just 4 shots. then i thought since there are 2 of them on my devilfish, and they only get 4 shots, which is which each one should get, are they twin linked?, the codex is very vague. someone, please clarify this for me. Thanks ???

Despite the fact they are represented in 2 parts, SMS is a single weapon system that fire 4 shots only. They are not 2 weapon systems, neither are they twinlinked. I'm sorry to say you were playing them wrong.

Add to that, they are not drones, so the system must stay mounted on the tank until shot off.

The way I look at it, it calls it "a Smart Missile System" instead of "2 Smart Missile Systems" like the "2 Burst Cannons" are listed, meaning one shot does both of the sponsons in.

Well that just sux. Especially considering the SMS displays 12 missiles on it. Oh well such is life I guess
