Crisis battlesuits 2 weapons?

Default Crisis battlesuits 2 weapons?

Im just starting warhammer 40k with tau and am wondering if its possible to use say 2 burstcannons instead of 1 twinlinked one?

Unfortunately it specifically states in the Tau codex that we may not take two of the same weapon system, except to twin-link it. So you may not take two burstcannons, as you must take a single twin-linked burstcannon instead. Just remember to fill all three hard points, but you may never have the same weapon twice (except to twin-link it).

Refer to page 17 of your codex, under "Crisis Battlesuit Weapons" for the specific text on why you may not do this.

ok, missed that, do you know what page it says that?

and if it can onyl be twin linked, is it better to twin link or get 2 weapons with a multitracker?

As for which method of configuration is better, that depends on you. A lot of people find that two weapon systems and a multi-tracker suits them fine, however others may prefer less fire power from a single twin-linked weapon system combined with a target lock (for example) because it's more accurate on the Tau BS of 3.

So it should be considered what you will use your XV8 for, what your enemies are perhaps, etc. If you're facing a lot of armor, burst cannons will be pretty useless, where Missile Pods are fantastic. If you're facing marines often, you may wish to take some plasma and back it up with another weapon, or simply twin-link it for more accuracy to ensure your kills.

If you're using pathfinders, you can take multiple weapon systems with more lax room to fire them accurately. Basically, when you have a low suit count (ie: less models) it's good to keep variability, allowing your suits two weapon systems to respond to different situations. However, if you have a high suit count (more models) then it may be worth exploring more twin-linked weapon systems.
