Default Krak Missles, Crisis Suits

Is there a decent counter to crisis suits being hit by lots of Krak missles of the equivalent? It seems their going to get instagibbed no matter what unless I'm in ruins or put shield drones/generators on anything. I play against an opponet that runs squads of typhoon missle launcher landspeeders and while it is easy to take them out, it is exceptionally annoying to have entire crisis suit squads with wounds instagibbed so easily from range.

Not really. If its on speeders, they outclass your suits in maneuverability and range with those things, even if you're using a deathrain. you either pop them all in one fell swoop, or hope you make your cover saves.

I'd actually suggest against shields if you're starting to put them everywhere; a few extra missile pods can improve the chance they won't fire (or won't fire a second time) in the first place.

Could use a Gun Drone Screen:

Jump with the XV-8's and jump the Gun Drones right behind the suits
then
Shoot with the XV-8's and hopefully wreck some speeders/marines >
then
Jump wherever with the XV-8's but make sure you can jump the Drones into a position to provide a cover save

That is actually a really good idea. Might just be cheaper to pop in 2 to 4 gundrones into the squad to soak up shots. 1 Drone controller can only have 2 drones assigned to it, correct?

You might want to try keeping them safely stowed in reserve before deep striking them at the right time (Hopefully.) with the aid of a positional relay. For poetic justice, you can even wait for his typhoon land speeders to slow down as they come in for an attack run and blow them straight to hell with your freshly arrived crisis suits. As long as you remember to be wary of what your opponent can use to attack them with during his next turn you shouldn't have any problems.

Yeah, 2 drones to a gun drone, seems like a reasonable tactic.

Majority toughness rules and shooting casualty moral tests can cause messes there though.

Yup. If you've got, say, 4 drones and 3 suits, your suits just dropped to T3 Sv4+. And that's BAD.

... um people ...three suits ..... six drones ...two shield drones on one guy for a total of 10 points more will solve that little problem. and that's maxing out drones.

We're trying to be cheap here, the 'useless' Drones from any Dumbfish (pun intended ) could provide sufficient screening if well placed
