Default Tau Drop Pods

I was just looking around the forum, when I was struck by an idea.
I'm sure you intelligent people on this forum can tell what it is by looking at the title of the thread.

So, Tau Drop Pods. Would it work?
Can anyone think of any rules for them to make them a fair and viable choice?
Should they just be the same as Space Marine ones but re-modelled?

I'd love to hear everyone's ideas, positive or negative.

I've always thought the Tau would rather land in force, especially since in IA3 they made a Pathfinder raid from an Orca. However if you did create one I'd assume it would be similar to a SM pod.

Fair ? yes, why not ?

Fit ? more ankward response here. Drop pod work well for SM because they strike swiftly and violently. It's a Hit & Run army (both fluffwise and rulewise).

Tau are more into plannification of their battles, and carefull , so I think they'd rather deploy behind and move in then. Or disembark with the support of the Air Caste (Orca with Tigershark ou Barracuda support, or Mantas).

So: why not if you want them, but I don't think it's in the Tau'va Spirit.

Drop pods are too one way for Tau IMO. They don't like fighting suicidal or losing battles, they value life. Which is why their airborne attacks are often done via orca or manta - as its an escape route should things go bad.

If tau did use drop pods, I'd imagine them to be more like helljumper ODST like, than marine.

Well crisis suits dont really need drop pods as there jump packs let them jump from ships. There are lots of pictures of crisis suits jumping from orcas and such from low orbit.

The only thing I can think of would be some sort of Gun Drone Filled Drop Pod. Maybe holding 12-24 gun drones. It could be used to drive enemies of an objective.

The problem with Tau drop pods, is that the Tau don't throw their lives away. In IA:3, had the raid been a complete success, the pathfinders could have gotten away in their Orca.

Sorry, what is IA3?
Also, i don't know about Tau using drop pods, as they are garbage if they get too close, and i think they'd prefer to drop out of ships in their Devilfish. The reason Space Marines like drop pods is that they are strong enough to kill anything they deploy into, and tough enough to survive smashing into a mountain or large boulder.

I can't see Tau using drop pods.
Anything that gets reasonably close generally has jump packs so they can deepstrike anyway.
The only thing I'd consider putting in them is kroot, but there infiltrators forest-y types anyway so they wouldnt use it.
