I am just curious on whether you guys tend to glue Granades to your models or not. Are they really worth taking?

Robogem:

We discussed this before, maybe the following links to those discussions will be of help

Personally, I think Photon Grenades are not worth it at all, because we are not going to put up enough of a fight in combat to warrant more points that only come into play while fighting close combat - I'd rather spend more points avoiding combat in the first place.

EMP grenades on the other hand, are quite useful, especially in very small games. And sometimes in larger games too. I wouldn't call them bread & butter for the Tau, but they definitely have their merits. A fast pathfinder team, or small mounted fire warrior team with EMP's could possible plow down a land raider with a little luck. It's not how well they do it, but the potential of being able to, since they don't have any squad weapons capable of hurting heavy armor and rely on other units for it. It's just nice to have a chance.

Cheers!

Frank:

Yes, it has been In fact, back in 3rd edition, it was very popular to give EMP grenades to Pathfinders (since they're modeled on metal pathfinder models already!) and use the pre-game scout move to quickly rush towards an important tank, and then move again and unload to assault into the vehicle with EMP grenades with a good chance to destroy it or severely cripple it. Of course, this is not possible as easily now in 4th edition (since you cannot disembark and assault and all that).

However, it is still a viable tactic if you're desperate, or simply want a fun challenge

Cheers!
