Default Would it be OK to paint Shas'O R'Myr in a different colour scheme?

I play Sa'Cea Sept and I am about to order Shas'O R'Myr and two special Suits, I now have a dilemma.

R'Myr has a certain colour scheme, my Sa'Cea army has a different one. He would not fit into the army with his original scheme from Taros campaign.

Would it be OK fluffwise to paint him in my scheme? Or maybe I should rename him and just use the rules? What do you think?

By the way, IA rules are tournament legal here, so I should not have problems fielding him.

Of course! Best thing, is rename him as your own commander, and just use the rmyr rules

Ah thats just the colour he had during the Taros campaing. Unlike Space Marines Tau Armour colour schemes are very flexible as it's actually ment to be dependant on their surroundings. a yellows and browns for desert (Taros Campaign), the blues and greys for cities, and so on. So there is no reason R'Myr wouldn't have that colour scheme. So knock yourself out in changing the colour of him ;D

Thanks. My usual Commander will then pilot that new shiny suit. 8)

If you flip to toward the end of the Tau codex where the various sept schemes are shown it states under a couple of them that various schemes are worn by Tau on different campaigns or terrains so painting any Tau character in a different scheme should be no problem because it just means they've changed their armor to one more suited to the campaign/terrain. It's not like marines where a different colour means a different chapter or Eldar where a different armor means a different aspect or craftworld.

The Tau seem to be a lot more practical than the other races of the 41st millenium which has really attracted me to their army recently fluffwise. Although I suppose if you're wearing terminator armor it doesn't really matter if it's bright pink people will still be running for their lives.

I know about the Tau attitude to schemes. The codex also says a traditional one or one ordered by the Ethereals are sometimes taken. My concern is that I just hope nobody starts arguing that it is not a WYSIWYG R'Myr.

Maybe I could use some heavy arguements then, like bashing such an individual with the IA3 book. >

Yeah, color scheme to argue WYSIWYG needs to be beaten with every book made from Warhammer.

Thats what dreadsocks are for.
Its a little more iffy to call him O'Rymr and change the actual sept markings, which are to only things that stay the same regardless of where the battle is.

Arguing Armour colour over WYSIWYG is not a Dreadsock able offence... thats Mantasock time. But yea sept markings are the only one that people could argue WYSIWYG over... but thats very lame thing to get arsey about.

Hmmm, R'Myr has T'au markings, though he probably is from Sa'Cea, since forces from that sept invaded T'ros.

If I change him to my Commander Shas'O Sa'Cea Lar'shi'el Kir'qath Ny'oni, "counts as the original R'Myr", I should maybe change the sept markings to match it. It is good that both septs have very similar symbols.
