Default More useful devilfish

I was just looking around the Apocalypse datasheet repos and found a new (to me) datasheet for a pathfinder 'mirage' formation. The squadron stealthfield rules are pretty cool. Not sure how well/balanced that would be in a normal 40k game, though.

The thing that got me excited was that all vehicles in the formation replace their gun drones with marker drones! This is the very thing I've been wishing for on devilfish! FW devilfish with this option would be awesome. Mobile markers and accurate FoF!

I've always wondered why we can't have a choice of drones on the vehicle drone caddies. Granted, shield drones on a vehicle would not be all that useful (we already have disruption pods) but the others, marker and sniper, can be.

The issue of vehicle drone killpoints need to be settled once and for all, though.

That is pretty cool. I loved the devilfish stealth field in particular, the devilfish in DoW had stealth, too. ;D

I kinda hope that is an option in the next codex, but they'll have to make a marker drone sprue or something, I'd hate to have to buy two stealth teams for every fish I wanted to put them on.

I was wondering, if a devilfish has its drones, then rams, and the devilfish is destroyed, are the drones allowed to fire as normal? Usually their shooting wouldn't be allowed because of tank-movement, but they aren't part of the tank anymore....

Agreed; if it fits in the caddy, it should be an option.

We tried out something we called a "Triggerfish", using burst cannons in the slots; it seemed to be a good choice for grabbing an objective.

Well as it stand now. Apocalypse Datasheet are not transferable to regular 40K.

So although it sounds interesting, I doubt you'll be able to use it...well maybe with friends

I always thought that would look cool, a devilfish with 3 burst cannons. :P

Devilfish with real guns + TA= great vehicle.

I'd be all about trying different variants to the Warfish, subbing in Bursts or Markerlights, Railrifles, etc.

Would be sorta like a Tau version of the Razorback?

Networked ML + TA + 2 BC's would be wonderful on a Devilfish... Throw in stealth options and that nifty cloaking (I also hope we get some stealth vehicles) and we couldn't ask for a better troop transport. Not in any sort of good conscience afterwards anyways.

Oh, I don't want to get greedy and ask for that 12" Mirage generator. Just something to grant short-range obscurement, say, within 2" of the exits would be nice. ;D

Hmm, now that you mention it... I'd be happy with cloaking options that look like our XV15 rules (for vehicles).
