Default warfish?

i am new to tau and was wondering what a warfish was? is it a variant on the devilfish?

A warfish is slang for a devilfish with the Smart-missile system and kitted out for tank duty -so multitracker, Targetting array, targetlock and disruption pod.

Dumbfish- Just has a D-pod
Pro: Very cheap
Con: Gun Drones give off kill points
Midfish - Has a D-pod, multi tracker, and targeting array
Pro: Cheapish and can fire all weapons when moving 12"
Con: Gun Drones Give off kill points
Smartfish - Has a D-pod, multi tracker, targeting array, and Smart Missile System.
Pro: SMS can ignore cover (and shoot 6" farther), can fire 7 shots when moving 6", and the secondary weapon system benefits from the targeting array.
Con: High cost, can't fire all it's weapons when moving 12".

Don't forget the pinto 'fish. The cheapest of all...if a fish with no upgrade at all.

Not so much, considering we have a similar query telling is it was worth 2 points, IIRC.

edit:
Scratch that, GW seems ot be pretty consistent on their: vehicular drones gives no KP policy.

Which is really odd, since disembarking drones form a new unit seperate nad distinct from the vehicule...and when the vehicule is destroyed they drones must disembarck as if they were passenger IIRC.

Edit 2:
And HQ Retenue does give a second KP.

I don't know of anyone who would run a pinto fish. For 5 points doubling the lifespan of your devil fish is almost always worth it. Until the next codex where they will likely change disruption pods, they are just about mandatory.

another good idea is if you know you will be vs. hoard armys you can add a discharger for the cost of a FW and when the enemy gets close you have the option to leave the fish to slow down a hoard and take some of them with you >


also, it might not help, but they dont give out kill points in KC >

Yeah, it seems as though they are differentiating between units that exist as part of the army list (which are worth a KP) and those that are created during the game, like vehicle drones and Biovore mines (which are not).

Not to side track too much, but biovore mine are worth KP if you kill them before they explode.

If the explode they are worth 0KP.
