Default shield drones

hey guys, sorry to ask a bit of a noob question but im a bit confused as to how shield drone's invulnerable saves work with the rest of the squad. Does the rest of them get the save as well? or is it just the drone? and how does it work in Close Combat, if at all?

Only the wounds you assign against them get the save, so put those lascannon shots on the drones and bolters on the suits.

I have a related question: If sergeant Tellian shoots my HQ unit and targets my commander can I defer the hit to his shield drone, since it is part of his wargear?

Yes, and that is the point of having shield drones instead of or in addition to shield generators

Drones aren't bypassed by a Srgt Telion-esque special ability?

What's the basis for that? Srgt T singles out a single model as the target, and A drone counts as an additional model for just about all purposes, does it not?

Unusual is correct, unfortunately. IIRC Telion has the Vindicare's targetting rule right? If so, then that player assigns where the wound/shot goes I'm afraid.

Other than that, shield drones take on the controllers T and Save and are an additional body to place wounds on. They happen to have an Invulnerable save for themselves, so be careful when divvying out wounds (as has been stated).

Sorry, I was unaware that Srgt Telion had special abilities allowing him to target specific models. If that is the case, than no, the drone can not take the wound instead. However, versus a normal lascannon, you can choose to take the hit on the drone.

Normally I would agree, but since the shield drone is part of the targeted models wargear, wouldn't it be a legitimet call to defer the shot onto the Drone itself, since it is simply an extension of Commander? Additionally, I read the drones rules adn there is nothing that says the drones controled by a drone controller are treated as an additionaly model only in destributing hits/wounds and moral checks for losses, otherwise they are simply treated as part of the commander.

I would have to reread Telion's rules, but that is not the only reason to take drones over shield generators. The big plus is if the drone fails the save it kicks the bucket, not your commander.

It counts as a model for applying wounds too, why wouldn't you be able to ignore it as well in the same vein of thought?

Telion's rule can also be thought of as your opponent placing the wound/hit on a model instead of you. Anywhere you could put it, he can also.
