Default Tau close combat equivalent

So as you all know, I have a tournament coming up soon... I was thinking If I get a small pathfinder squad and a moderate sized gundrone squad I can fire enough markerlight hits into the fray to reduce leadership to nill and use the gun drones to pin the unit in place for a subesquent turn of firing and pinning.

Doubtful it gonna work.

At best a full pathfinder team hit with all their marker light, giving you 8 marker token all of which could be use to reduce the leadership for PINNING only.

However realistically a full squad will give you 4 marker tokens per turn so, which doesn't carry over ot the next turn so realistically sepaking you can only inflict a -4 penalty to pinning.

That's if your opponent actaully have to do a pinning test (Yeah I'm looking at you Space Marines and 'Nids.)

I seriouly recommand you reconsider your idea. All those points for 1 single pinning test?? Not worth it.

Yeah, not Gonna work against Nids, since they're all fearless 98% of the Time, but Space Marines? When did they all become Fearless too? You Might be Referencing Calgar, but if you are then you should know that Calgar's special Rule only lets them auto pass/fail morale checks, not Ld Tests, so They still have to test for pinning.

They do have a character (or 2 even) that Makes them all stubborn though, and that would completely negate all those modifiers that you spent so many points on.

it's against orks so it should work. not too often you roll a 3 or less with two dice as your basically looking at rolling snake eyes. Unless the HQ is with them, then it gets hairy. But if it's just basic Ld 7 orks then you could conceivably pin them for eternity especially seein as orks only have bare armor... most of the time.

With Orks though, you need to be careful to remember not to try it on large mobs, since they are fearless when they have more than 11 boyz in them. It would really suck to use up all those markerlights just to find out that you didn't kill enough just to break their mob rule!

great we're on par with an army that needs a deserter executioner as it's HQ.... Shouldn't our zeal for "the greater good" do something at the very least the presence of an ethereal with all the pheromone powers should do SOMETHING.

lol what guard player fails leadership? Vox+Commissar=every squad Ld 10. Hooray!

Yeah, i've always hated spending the 10pts for a Shas'ui just to get a passable Ld value.

Um...An Ethereal does do something to everything in Line of Sight to it. And does something arguably better for the unit he's attached to.
