Suicidal devilfish

A tactic I intend to use in my next game is this: Load up a devilfish with a flechette discharger, and start throwing it down the opponents throat to both block LOs, grant my units cover saves, and tank shock, though I don't think transports can tank shock.

Re: Suicidal devilfish

Devilfish is listed as both a Skimmer and a Tank, so it can perform a Tank Shock.

Cool. Then that makes things so much better.

Player 1: My devilfish tank shocks you
player 2: my units pass, They now attack you with their pow...
Player 1: hold on, on a 4+ they take a wound.
Player 2: well crap there goes half my orks....

Actually, only ONE model per unit can choose to do a death or glory, and only this model would get the wound from the flechettes. Since the Ork Nob has 2 wounds, he will hit your tank no matter what.

I mean the following turn when they all charge the thing.

That is pretty nifty that flechettes work against DoG as well. Not something you can exactly count on working but it's an option at least.

I'm just glad they can tank shock. That's all I care about, they either run, run some more, or attack and get the snot shot out of them.

Sorry, but if you're using flechette dischargers to keep it alive, then surely it isn't suicidal? :P

But I wouldn't rely on them,

still, your tactic might have a good secondary purpose in taking seeker missiles so that they hit rear armour.

Re: Suicidal devilfish

a single melta-gun will ruin your entire plan. Devilfish are too weak to survive assaults reliably with a rear armor of 10. I wouldn't bother. Keep your devilfish as far away from your opponent as possible so that you can get your disruption pod cover save.

Re: Suicidal devilfish

Yeah tank shocking with devilfish is gone forever now. It is kind of sad. A powerfist will ruin your day as well. Also this gives away kill points which may be an inconvenient truth in some areas.
