Default Why not tau walkers

Ok, so I understand why the tau have skimmers, but why don't they have any walker vehicles? Had the fluff been done a little different, the XV88 would have been the perfect example of the Tau walker vehicle. However, that is a shoulda, woulda, coulda thing. But my point is:

With bipedal machines being so prevelent in the Tau ranks, why didn't GW give them a slightly larger bipedal vehicle.

I am not advocating for a titan or anything like that, but I think it would have made substantial sense to put a Shos'o or 'el commander into a walker vehicle instead of another XV8. I found this pic on coolminiornot.com that embodies the concept I am talking about <http://coolminiornot.com/210732>. Obviously it is over the top, and I am not saying it is exactly what I am looking for, but having a intimidating walker vehicle would make the commander unique. Thoughts?

(Note: The pic to my knowledge is not copywriten or anything so it doesn't break the forum rules. If I am mistaken please correct my mistake or inform me so I can do so.)

It might work depending on the situation; but the way the Tau Doctrine works is that, its fast, rapid movement and "raid" like attacks. If it couldn't get out of an engagement as fast as say a devilfish, and be much larger then a XV-88, it would have no reason to be on the field with Tau.

Or at any rate at least of what I can think of. ???

it a cool model the legs are a little to open for my tastes but then I also love battletech. What I have heard/read if the crisis suits became walkers it would be "over powerd". Besides lets say we did count the as vehicals. Even if we gave them the armor line of F9 S9 R9 it would mean an imp gaurds man would need 6's to glance. but would it really be cheesy. 6 crisis suits from both comanders (1 Shas'o + 2 bodygaurds + a Shas'el+2 bodygaurds), 9 more from our elites (3 groups of 3) then we have our broadsides another 9 again(3 groups of 3)and they have heavier armor(I guess we could make it 10's all around). Yes I would have liked to seen the original write up for the crisis suits and to have been able to play once with those rules.

Walker are too low-tech. Think about it a ungainly thing run by a joystick jockey.

Whereas a battlesuit is pretty much an extension of the tau body and mind...so much more esthetic.

I generally find most of the walkers of other races to be ineffective. But then again, most walkers are armor 10 and the Tau have almost exclusively strength 5 shooting. Piranhas are better than most walkers in my opinion. They just need to be cheaper.

well battlesuits really ARE walkers in a sense ... only faster, but to do that they had to make them jet packers.... which are infantry. also as for that walker....

There's an idea. A walker with a 6" assault movement. I can imagine the Tau using something similar to a broadside which would count as a walker. (armor 11 all around, twin linked railgun with submunitions, smart missile system, and access to the Tau Vehicle armory sounds good to me)

Sounds insanely overpowered to me.

It's actually worse in a lot of ways. While bolters wouldn't be able to harm an armor 11 broadside, krak missiles would tear them apart. Currently Krak missiles bounce off of them. I'd rather have them stay as infantry instead of being made into walkers.
