Default tau vs IG and SM

I have a battle against IG and SM coming up so I have a few queries which I could do with help over:

What is good against an Imperial Guard with lots of Snipers that can outrange your Fire Warriors Pulse Rifles?
What's good against an Imperial Guard army in general?
As well as what is good against a Space Marine army with teleporting Terminators?*

??? Thanks in advance.

Edit by RJay: I have edited the above post, for the reason noted here: the language spoken on these forums is English. Not 'leet' or chat-room English, simply proper, grammatically-correct English. Please make every effort to include good spelling, punctuation and grammar in your posts. So 'Tau Rock' could you deter from chat room talk, thankyou.

The answer to both of your questions is simple: Mechanized Tau.

Snipers have problems taking down tanks (sometimes) so if you're worried about your FW been shot around then mount them up in Fishes and FoF the heck out of them! ^-^ As for Termies: Mech and Plasma...that's all you need!

By lots of Guard snipers I assume you're referring to Ratlings, which with the help of stealth teams should be no problem. Guard in general will die in droves to pulse rifles and their tanks are vulnerable to railguns. However they will have a lot of guns too; so use your hit and run abilities and stay out of LOS as much as possible.

As for deep striking termies, well what was that suit config... the Helios will do wonders... just plasma in general as A'u'nat mentioned.

As an aside I don't see why you'd be worrying about snipers so much... I'd be worried about the loads of heavy bolters (if you're playing static), missile launchers and lascannons.

FIrst of all, devestators have a 3+ save, not a 2+.
Second, they're expensive, so are likely to be in small squads. Light them up with markerlights, then hitt hem with plasma, or ion cannons. or plain old pulse rifles.

That's true, but one can now have Snipers in regular Platoons with the special Doctrine "Light Infantry" where they can replace the heavy weapon with a sniper rifle...it's quite brutal... :P

i thought cover save was a sseparatesave not an addition to the armour save. as i understand it you can use one or the other but not both and they don'tstack up. can someone confirm this or put me right if i am wrong

Oh, I didn't catch that! Good one Wile E! You are correct about the armour save and cover save, they are seperate and don't stack up!
