Doubtful. GW are probably just trying to add an air of mysterousness around the Tau.

I actually find this kind of discussion interesting.
I just thought, the Ethereal are Tau, all Tau originally came from T'Au. All Tau were in 4 Septs untill the mysterious arrival of the 5th Ethereal Caste. So, Ethereals aren't alien to the Tau, as they are the same form of Xenos, but that means they must've been hiding somewhere on the planet during the warpstorm that isoloated it. So were Ethereals originally shunnd by the Tau? Or were they always in existance except due to the rapid growth of the Tau race, they evolved on some island or something and were never discovered by the other 4 Septs, who went of to their own areas and before they knew it were involved in all out war. Meh...

yea, it is interesting.
I agree that it is put there for GW to add mystery and future plots, however a cool discussion none-the-less. So also, there are not many ethereals obviously compared to other tau, are there males and females? do they procreate seperate from other tau? If so, that kinda means they are almost a seperate species. Is there any evidence in the book they actually come from T'au or does it hint at there arriva to the planetl at some point.

Well they could have arrived from off-planet; the legend says there were strange lights in the sky and wierd figures in the hills...

Well - when a Mommy Ethereal loves a Daddy Ethereal...
oh wait - that's not what you meant.... Honestly - there is not information. Odds are - the ethereals were genetically manipulated by *something* to create them. What though? - insufficient data. Probably NOT the Humans. C'tan - perhaps... The Tau did advance technologically VERY quickly. Eldar - perhaps... Maybe a farseer saw a road where a Tau soldier would save Craftworld some day... the "Old Ones" - heck - they modified most of the rest of the races.... somebody else? no one knows.... Heck - GW probably put that in so they could have a plot hook to work with in the future.... Dave Gaidasz |
