Default Broadsides

- It says broadside teams are 1-3 shas'ui
- 1 shas'ui can be upgraded to team leader

Could I have one monat shas'ui who is upgraded to team leader?
If so then you could have one shas'ui and two shield drones, increasing the survivability of the unit by a lot.

Just woundering if this is

1. Fine, no probs at all
2. Ok but beardy
3 Not allowed

I personally think it is ok but beardy but I was wanting everyone else's opinions

Yes.

Most people who do monat, upgrade it to teamleader of Sha'vre to have access to the HW wargear/extra goodies.

Those who don't do it, either:
1) don't want ot waste points;
2) don't know and are selling themselves short.

Does the team not have to exclude 1 Shas'ui?

The wording says that there are 1-3 Shas'ui, in a team. Is being a shas'vre an upgrade or another person, so can you have
3 Shas'ui and 1 shas'vre
or
2 shas'ui and 1 shas'vre

More a wording issue then anything, but just my wonderings

Shas'vre is an upgrade for one of the 3 suits in the team. Total team size will never exceed 3 suits. I would avoid using Shas'vre since a simple team leader has access to the same things.

from 1 to 3 shas'ui...one of them can be upgraded to shas'vre

so you can have:

1 shas'ui
1 shas'vre (or shas'ui teamleader)
2 shas'ui
1 shas'ui and 1 shas'vre (or shas'ui teamleader)
3 shas'ui
2 shas'ui and 1 shas'vre( or shas'ui teamleader)

I don't see see where the is a wording issue...it is quite clear IMO.

on the subject of the original post it is not terribly beardy to do a team leader as an individual unit. ad some drones once you add the drones and hardwired wargear it can get quite expensive. i just did it earlier today and I managed to keep them around 90 points each with advanced stabilisation system and hardwired multi-tracker. I thought I was going up against a monolith but it deepstruck off the table and I just spent the game sniping warriors.

its also easy enough to fluff. say it is the lone survivor of a team. isn't that what most monat's are anyway?

I personally like taking only one Broadside as a Shas'ui Team Leader. You can give him all the cool goodies that a team leader can take, and don't need to worry about selling the rest of the unit short. I find that the A.S.S. is the best choice for them and then taking a Hard-wired Drone controller with 2 Shield Drones. Doesn't leave such a big foot-print of slow-moving easy-to-spot targets if you do it like that. Plus is a nice alternate for a Hammerhead in a small game.

Y'know honestly I think they should just drop this idea of a Shas'ui team leader and just make the Shas'vre only 5 points more than the regular guy and call it a day. It's not like the Shas'vre gives a boost in any stat that matters. A shas'vre gets +1 weapon skill and +1 initiative over a regular crisis suit. Those are the 2 least important stats to the Tau. You'd think they'd give him +1 leadership and +1 attack like every other upgrade character. Or what would make sense for the Tau is +1 leadership and +1 ballistic skill. It's kinda ridiculous that that isn't the case.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents.
