Default Stealth's anyone?

What do you all think about having 18 stealths in a 1700p list? that way you get lots of s5 ap 5 shots and can pull down the amount of FW you have, and you can have lots of kroot ;D
Have anyone tryed this?

Yes, as a matter of fact a few GT tournament lists used 18 stealths, albiet in 1850 lists. Statistically they are better at killing than crisis suits, but many players (including myself) like the added transport and 2+ save killing abilities of the crisis suits. 6 stealth and 3 crisis will both kill an average of 2 marines per turn, FYI, although 3 stealths cost less.

The benefit i see with stealths is the ability to infiltrate, and they are much harde to kill then crisis, firstly with thair night shield, and secondly as you get 2 stealths for one crisis the opponent have to fire more

I think it would really, really depend on the enemy army. For example, that is a wrapped gift for some armies who are fast to combat: such as any army with fleet of foot, any fast moving units such as jump pack heavy armies, various chaos armies or anything with a fast daemon prince or fast units, etc. Also, an army riddled full of Auspex might have a chance to take some pot shots at your units before the game starts (for example, seeing and destroying your Kroot because they had 8 auspex and rolled and saw the Kroot twice and unleashed salvos into them before the game started).

The idea of a Stealth army with Kroot is really cool - I've entertained the idea myself, taking it just down to many models, aggressive and in-your-face. However, Crisis fill quite an essential niche that no other unit really can make up for unfortunately, and having merely 2 commanders seems a little odd considering the heavy infiltrating aggressive style force that it would be.

It all comes to taste. However, for this army, I'd have to say to go with burst cannons and ion cannons on hammerheads just because they're fun. Maybe deep striking gundrones even. But most definitely some Pathfinders

I have not tried a 1700 pt list, but I have been thinking of using more SS myself. I have gotten the feel for these guys and that makes it so much easier seeing the 18 distance limit they have.

These guys are great and almost like marines with the 3+ saves.

Rich is correct. Each Stealth Suit statistically kills 1/3 of a Marine.

But against Tyranids they slaughter... 3 shots hit on a 4+ wound on a 2+ no save... a 5-strong squad... a lotta dead 'nids...
