Default Tau defence against deffcopters

What would you do faced against 15 deffcopters with power saws? 30 T5 wounds!

They can deploy 12", scout turbo boost 24", move 12" and charge 6" no where is safe.

Well it depends.

Are you talking 1 team of 15 or 3 team of 5? It does affect tactic.

Deffs can only be taken in a group of 5 per squad.

Secondly, that squad takes 300 points for just the five, at 30 you are looking at 1800 points! (If they didn't lower the value. I don't have my Ork Codex on me. Brought damn Daemons instead.) That's a lot for one squad, 125 for the Buzzsaws alone. What is the point value that you are playing? This would help a bunch.

No. What I am saying is that my Air Support has lots of Ground Cadre.

If a Land Raider dies to a rail gun, and no one was around to see it, does the kill point still exist?

Three teams of five.

I play at 1500 pts level which you could fit those copters in and have 40 boyz and a boss too. This is all theory I don't know anyone who has this army I'm just afraid I'll meet it at the GT this year.

It is a lot of points but it is a lot of points that can do a lot of damage. Most armies wouldn't mind facing this but Tau?

So 10 attacks per team, fairly acurate...so maybe what 6-8 hits, about 3-4 death per deffcopter teams.

End result they are lock in CC for another round, and if not, you shoot them out of the sky...their armour save\armour value cannot be all that good and Tau pulse weapon/BC can down take AV 11 vehicles (barely but still).

Oh! Read that wrong. Thought 30 Deffs. ;D So 900 points.

The best way I can see to take them down is to give them a speed bump, per say a few drones to kill, then on your turn, blast them out of the sky with a bunch of Fire Warriors. For suits, I would have them armed with missile pods and Burst Cannons. Plasma and Rail Rifles will deny an armor save, but I think number of shots will prevail against a horde army, since you will have to deal with the other orks as well.

Also, PIE! I love Pie. A Hammerhead, or two, or Three, or FOUR (Wait, this isn't my Apoc army.) or two, and the Pie plate will also Deny armor saves, have a decent chance of wounding and can hit more then one. If only one, then blast it with a solid slug and instakill it. Put some Flechette on the tanks, because I just know that the Deffs will come after it after the first Pie plate or sooner.

Lastly, pray. Even if you are not religious, the rest of us usually leave offerings to the Dice Gods, just so we can roll better then you. ;D

Don't post copywritten stats.

Agreeing with ranzin here. You might be able to defend against this with a sacrificial screen. Without the ability to consolidate, they are going to get stuck in the open even if they can charge you on the first turn. And they aren't that good in close combat for their cost, so Kroot should actually have a good chance of taking them down as the speedbump or as counter-chargers.

I am more worried about them used in concert with other Ork units than I would be if the Ork player used that many points to spam them on the first turn.

Every 40K mob and his Grot has a jet bike... We really need our own Double-Barreled Railrifle hoverbikes that come with free D-pod. :/

I think a few teams of marker light supported broadsides could clear this out in a hurry. That does leave the other ork carrying vehicles to play hell with our line though...

SKYRAY'S
str 8 insta gibs Deffcoptas

Oh and kroot should be good also

For battlesuits you couldn't go far wrong with fusions and Missilepods (each capable of taking out 1 a turn)

Firewarriors i would of thought, would of served well against these however i ain't done the math

Because the "avatar" of Rap and similar music is a binged up black guy who holds his gun in such a way as he will probably shoot his own foot off in a gunfight. The avatar of Metal is a bearded, unwashed Scandinavian guy who kills you, your family, your town, your country and the neighbouring country because there isn't much else to do up in the snowy fjords of Vikingland.
