Default What should I get to finish off my 1,500pt list

Shas'el: 248: plasma rifle, fusion blaster, targeting array, hw multitracker
Bodyguard x 2: CIB, twin-linked fusion blaster, hw multitracker
AFP, twin-linked fusion blaster, hw multitracker

Stealthsuits x 6: 180

Fire Warriors x 8: 95: pulse carbines, Shas'ui: bonding knife

Fire Warriors 2 x 8: 190: pulse rifles, Shas'ui: bonding knife

Gun Drones x 8: 96

Pathfinders x 5: 60

Pathfinders x 5: 90: x 3 rail rifles

Devilfish x 2: 230: multitracker, disruption pod, x 2 seeker missiles

Broadside: 115: A'S'S, team leader, hw drone controller, x 2 shield drones

This is my current list, its a total of 1,304pts I'm 196pts short of 1,500pts. My current issue is I don't know what to put in to finish the list. I won't use kroot, or any thing similar, I wanna stick to just Tau. Any suggestions?

Well, seeing as how you have pathfinders, and a good 3 units of fire warriors, maybe an addition of another Crisis unit could help, especially with the pathfinders devilfish to help guide them in from deepstrike. Or you could beef up your broadside unit to 2 or 3, because 1 railgun in the entire list does seem to be alittle lacking,

This should have probably been in the army list section, but any way.

On the Shas'el's Bodyguard, you'd probably be better off using Twin-linked Plasma rifles. Twice as many shots and just as good at killing heavy infantry at the same range as the Fusion blaster. Though, if you're using it for tank-hunting abilities (Which I'd suggest not with the special issue weapons) then stick with the Fusion blasters. (That's +24PTS to what you have.)

Adding another Broadside would be good, too. Though I've done games larger than this with one Rail gun, a second is always good. And if you do this, you could run it the same as your last one (+115PTS), or add second one to the squad, with an A.S.S. and giving the Team leader a Hard-wired Target lock (+85PTS)(The Target lock is so in case you have to split fire).

If you take the first and third suggestion to up your list, that leaves you with 87PTS left over. An XV8 would be a nice thing to add. A Shas'vre ('Cause all Mont'ka[s] should be that) would work pretty well as a Heavy infantry hitter, with a Fusion blaster, Plasma rifle and Shield generator (Runs exactly 87PTS too. :P).

The purpose of the HQ unit is primarily anti-troop, but due to my lack of anti-tank I put the fusion blasters on them as well. Additionally they can hunt HQ models in terminator armour. As for the CIB & AFP they are in there for hordes, although both of them played their parts quite nicely in my game last night killing a few marines each. Even with the fusion blasters short range unless my opponent has jump troops or fleet of foot naturally for his models, he won't be able to engage my models in combat when I make my assault move away from his models.

As far as filling in the points. I'm thinking I'll twin-link the Shas'el's fusion blaster so that I can get myself a full 200pts available. Beyond that, I've considered putting in another x 6 stealthsuits. A pimped out hammerhead: burst cannons, multitracker, disruption pods, railgun & x 2 seeker missiles and putting a TA on the shas'vre with the AFP. I've thought about adding x 3 piranha's even though their "usiability" has gone down: x 2 fusion blasters and one with a seeker missile. I've thought about a broadside w/A'S'S added to the first squad and another squad of 10 fire warriors added in, with the typical goodies required: shas'ui w/a bonding knife, as for fire power that squad would boast x 4 carbines and x 6 rifles just because my tau don't sit still. I've thought about a solid x 3 crisis suits: 2 twinlinked plasma gunners w/missile pods, and one guy with a twinlinked fusion blaster and a missile pod, and that'd leave enough points for the AFP guy to get his targeting array or I could make the guy with the fusion blaster a team leader and give him a target lock...

Any thoughts on any of the above ideas?

This entire list seems a little unbalanced towards your HQ and that one broadside. I usually like to keep my HQ choices cheap and easy under 2000 points, also--you need some armor man. Cut a few points off and throw in a Hammerhead.

This one means that the devilfish won't be as big of targets because they are no longer carry the seeker missiles. And after the seekers have been launcher the unit is free to fly around the board chasing down tanks.

You could even think about sniper drone teams. Networked marker light and S6 AP3 if i remember rightly. your enemy needs to role 3 xd6 to see if they can see you to shoot at you and if they cant then they forfet that shooting phase.

i suggest changing the targeting array of a twinlinking of the fusion since a +1 BS isn't going to help with the flamer and a TL FB is cheaper than a FB+TA whilst a TL FB is more accurate

and switch your commanders plasma rifle with the CIB of his bodyguard and give the bodyguard the plasma rifle with a CIB BS 4 or 5 is vital to have it preform correctly

Here's what I think:

-Upgrade the shas'el to a shas'o
-disband the gun drone squad and split the drones between the fire
warrior squads and the pathfinders, two drones for each squad
-give yourself a hammerhead with a railgun, smart missile system, and a
seeker missile
-you have about 17 points left over, so have some fun with that
