Default Can't fire Gun Drones if Devilfish moved more than 6"?

Since this was mentioned in another thread, I thought I'd point out that passengers cannot fire if the vehicle moves more than 6", and that drones count as passengers for firing purposes. In specific, they cannot fire if passengers can't (see Tau faq). Very sad!

Well, since this is twice now I've been wrong, I wonder: my reading is that landing gear does not prevent an immobilized skimmer from crashing, unless it has chosen to land. Is this wrong?

An Immobilzed skimmer that went further then 6" will be destroyed, even if it has ladning gears.

I believe it's the "Go fast, go splat" feature.

that was in 4th ed. in 5th ed its if you move over 12 inches then you crash if you didnt move over 12 inches it is just immobilised (pg71 of 5th ed rules). landin gear just means that you can land... forfiting movement so it is lower on the ground. this could be useful for gaining cover and so on.

However, it says in the rulebook that under no circumstance will a skimmer voluntarily land in a combat situation. As such, the landing gear doesn't really do anything. The only way a skimmer can "land" is if it's immobilized and taken off the flying base.

I think this is a pretty clear instance of "codex overrides rulebook" as well as "specific exception overrides general rule".

Fair enough. I guess that works. Won't see me doing it though. I don't want to risk breaking my fragile bases. Also I like to keep my skimmers moving.
