Default railgun question

I looked around the boards and simply couldn't find it.
I played my first game Vs orks in 5th today. Fun game. orks are pests at best, but can still do some damage due to the high number of shots. And those assault 1 rocket launchers are really good.
So I was firing my broadsides at his killerkans and one shot went through but only glancing vs one of them. I rolled a 6 though, and remembered that AP1 weapons add +1 to the damage roll = 7 - 2 for glancing meant I got a 5. For this particular excercise we said that it was immobilized as niether of us knew what to do. So I ask you, can broadsides kill on glancing hits? Cause that means meltaguns can too.

Yeah, they can kill them.
AP 1 Glance is just -1 on the chart. Which in 5th ed means destroyed.

Yes, any AP 1 weapon can kill a vehicle on a glancing hit.
Double check your 5th ed. rulebook.

basicly theres only one damage chart... unmodified it goes from 1 (can't shoot that turn) to 6 (EXPLODES!!) and various things modify it... for instance glancing is -2, but AP1 is +1 making your roll of 6 become a roll of 5. you then look at the damage chart and gooo OOHH i've done this.

All hail Ap1 weapons...

Funny thing actually an ap1 destroyer weapon, shoots a open topped ork scorcher, +3 to the damage chart, yaaay. Slight over kill.

I don't mean that it's a great thing vs ork vehicles. I meant it was good VS anyone else. especially marines and guard. Even eldar with their nigh invincible tanks.

Fixed this for ya. Broadsides are the most point-efficient, reliable tank killers in the game, hands down. I brought three to the 'ard boyz tourney yesterday (got second) and my Broadsides accounted for almost twice as many victory points as any other unit in my army. First game popped three vindicators and a land raider full of cc termies, and one actually died in the explosion! (and my 2 railheads killed his dreadnought and two razorbacks). I'm not going to lie, I was scared shitless when I saw that much armor against me, but railguns carried me through it.
