Default Got my first models and paints... what colour scheme?!?

I've just bought and basecoated my first lot of tau:
2 crisis battlesuits, 24 fire warriors , 8 gun drones , 1 piranha , 2 pathfinders (yes no DF yet)

But I've got limited paints and was wondering what kind of scheme I should go with. The paints I have are: Scorched Brown, Kommando Khaki , Camo Green , Catachan Green and Skull White.
I was thinking along the lines of some kind of Tau Sept that comes from the jungle... Please suggest which colour i should use and where or any other ideas you have. Oh and you can comment on my force and whether i bought the wright thing or not.

Greg.

With only four paints, your options are pretty limited. Either you use brown for the fabric and green for the plates, or green for the fabric and brown for the plates. Things like Gun Drones and Battlesuits just use the same colors for different plates around their exterior. I guess I would use the green for the panels and the brown for the cloth. The panels are further out, so painting them with lighter colors will make them stand out.

I would paint the fabric Scorched Brown, and use small amounts of Khaki as highlight. I am not familiar with Camo Green, but I would use whichever of the two greens is darker as a base on the armor panels, and line them with the lighter shade.

The white will be useful for highlighting the sept marking on the shoulders, but I think you are going to want to pick up a pot of at least Chaos Black at some point, and possible one other bright color to use for the various lenses on the models. With a green and brown color scheme, I would suggest Blood Red and/or Red Gore for this.

Thanks for the advice, I've started painting my first fire warrior and have chose then catachan Green as a base armour colour and scorched brown and cloth colour. Have you got any tips on painting the panels on the head clearly as i am having trouble with not filling the the small gaps (damn my shaky hand!)
Any tips would be greatly appreciated and thanks for the advice once more.

Greg

If you have an airbrush I suggest taking those paints one by one and spraying lines across the entire model. It would look really cool. And since it's airbrushed, it'll give it that high quality look.

Wow o0Greg0o That was what I was going to suggest good choice. If you do not want lines in the recess to be black if that is your undercoat color you want and shading. get either the black wash or water down some black paint and brush it on to make the recesses in the helmet darker. Blood red lenses look good also. That sounds like it may involve masking though, I am legion.

well there won't be much masking on a firewarrior, just fill in lens' later. And if you don't want something camoed then just paint black in it's place like on the drones. Even though I'd totally paint the entire drone in camo including the guns....in fact, you're giving me an awesome idea.....
