Can tau have wargear to let them shoot at infiltrators?

If not how do i beat them? He says that he can get in to combat in the first turn?

Infiltrating Tyranid... either a mass of splat-tastic Stealers or a mutated list with long beards.

Really though... I don't see how he's going to get you in combat first turn with an infiltrating tyranid force. Nothing he has that infiltrates can launch leaping assaults.

Ask your opponent to show you how his units are infiltrating to educate us on this.

Anyhow - the Tau do not have anything to counter the masses of infiltrators that have become the pinnacle of 4th edition. We have sensor spines, and they don't do much. If your Tyranid player has Lictors, well, sensor spines can be useful, but otherwise, all we have are vehicles and cover.

Best way to beat the bugs that infiltrate - Transports. Even if they can charge a Devilfish, we have a good chance of living through it, much better than just sitting on the open ground and taking it head on.

Otherwise, putting small forward units of Kroot is an easy way to force anything he has futher back to give you plenty of distance to get your skimmers set and ready to roast some bugs.

I have played nids for a long time; and there is nothing that can get a first turn charge in the tyranid army. When he is deploying his infils, they must be OVER 12" away (if they are out of LoS). If you can see them, they must be 18" away. The nid player you are playing is cheating, tell him to go away* ;D >.

New Nids are coming though. So I'd wait and see.

Nothing is beardy, just deal with it. My Brother plays Nid's and he's already saying to me how in his next list he can have a billion cheap gaunts and something like 4 Carnifexes with extra Toughness. I don't sweat it, I'll kick his stupid Nids back to the Void with the 'Foot of Ben'

Ok maybe not but the important thing is to stay calm and ask him whats going on.

Good Luck

Actually with the new codex, gaunts are more expensive, not less. And although with this upcoming edition you can have a ton of monstrous creatures, none of them will be able to hold table quarters (or any sort of "take and hold" area).

Standard Tau tactics apply, use enough fire warriors, pinning is your friend, MASS YOUR FIREPOWER(you do not want a last gaunt standing to deprive you of shooting)

You`ll be fine 8)

Versus tyranids, pinning is not your friend, but the mass firepower definitely is.
