Default Fletchette Dispensers & wound allocation

Quick Q: Do you roll for each fletchette wound individually against each model? Or is it 'lumped' together like standard wound allocation?

Example: A DF is assaulted by 5 Ork Nobs. Can each get at most one wound? Or if I get (for example) three unsaved wounds is one model removed and one get a single wound?

I'd say you need to 'wrap' around the wounds as normal wound allocation requires.

So I guess your question is, should your rolls to wound be distributed by model or rolled together and then wound allocation is decided by the opposing player. Since the shooting phase gives the opposing player the chance to distribute the wounds as he/she sees fit, I will assume that the rules will be implied in this situation: it seems fair.

I'm with Boneguard, I'd do it as normal for wound distribution.

The thing that you may be misunderstanding here is that you only need to distribute the wounds if there is a model in the attacking unit that is different. Even so when you do distribute wounds you roll for all of the identical models at the same time.

So basically if you were attacking with 5 Ork Nobs and 1 of them has a powerklaw and they all suffered a wound from the flechette discharger You'd roll allocate the wounds as such.

The nob w/ powerklaw takes 1 wound and the other generic nobs take 4 wounds as a group because you roll saves for all identical models at the same time.

Let's say the Nob w/ klaw makes his save. He suffers no wounds. Then you roll all 4 of the other wounds for the other nobs at the same time. Let's say here you fail 3 saves. then from the regular nobs you lose 1 nob and another nob takes a wound.

The only reason why you would allocate 1 wound to each nob and roll for them individually is if each nob attacking the vechile was somehow unique. Like if 1 had a powerklaw, 1 had a bigshoota, 1 had a Rokkit, 1 had a skorcha and 1 was a regular nob. I dont know if that's possible but that's the only way that each 1 would take a wound individually.

A lot of people are misunderstanding when you are and aren't supposed to allocate wounds.

I understand the wound allocation system -- it just seemed like the Fletchettes were more 'targeted'. Since you're rolling one die per enemy model assaulting the vehicle, it seems like a case could be made for that die being 'targeted' towards a particular model, even before the to-wound/save rolls are made.

But it seems like the consensus is that the dice are all rolled in a large pool, and then wounds are allocated pre-save per the normal wound allocation procedures.

I always pictured fletchette dispensers being like a giant vehicle mounted shotgun that hits the bad guy that got to close. Its not aimed and so I'd think it should be against them all. then again, I dont know the new wound rules.

i thought of them more as a giant shotgun trap. that is realised defensively. I looked in the codex and it says they are charges. So basically you both were half right. Also I think you wound as normal.

Kinda makes me think of explosive reactive armor. Except instead of reacting to ranged attacks it's reacting to physical contact. And when it explodes it goes of quite like a claymore. If I had the time and patience I'd rig up a flachette discharger bit for my vehicles. I know forgeworld has one, but I think I could make a cool looking one.
