Default Crisis Suit weapons question

Hey all, just a quick question regarding weapon selection on the Crisis suits.

Suppose that I'm looking to buy two seperate burst cannons (just an example). If I purchase two of them, can I take them as two seperate choices at the single-weapon point costs indicated? Or are they automatically counted as twin-linked (meaning I don't get the extra shots, etc.)?

Any help would be appreciated.

No, you can't take them like that.

Either you buy singly or double (in otherwords TL'd).

That was actually one of my very first questions with Tau...Technically, I got an overall grey response from GW (a good number of yes and no's...), but the avg. tournament and/or player will go the safe route this time.

In the codex it states that "where a weapon system is given two point values, the first is the price for the normal, single-mounted version, and the second is for two weapons (counting as a twin-linked weapon of that type).
So while it doesn't specifically say that two weapons of the same type are always twin-linked it seems to heavily imply that.

Look... you don't have to tell me about the Tau rules. In fact, I will cordially insist that you don't. I'm perfectly capable in body and mind to read them myself.

I went over the issue enough with GW and on here. I chose the simpler solution because I was tired of having to explain myself to the masses. GW sucks at proper writing, writing that leaves no grey areas is rather foreign to them. Their rule-writers have also gone the way of last nights dinner, so I don't really expect anything fancy from them at this point.

Bottom line is this, GW can give you the answer you want if you call them. Play with a sense of responsibility towards the fun-factor of the game at hand. For both players.

No model can pick the same item twice,
Thats the simple, straightforward, clear answer. No an item may not be purchased twice. Note that buying a twin linked weapon system is not buying two of the same items that then count as twin linked. No item can be taken twice, a twin-linked weapon though it takes up two slots, is a single item from the Armoury. A Battlesuit may not take two of the same weapon and not twin link them.

Anyway your search-fu is weak Controls, this question has been asked dozens if not hundreds of times before.

I know slave to the bell doesn't like having the rules quoted here but I'm going to do it anyway so that there's no room for error here. On page 25 of the Tau codex in the entry called "battlesuit armoury" the first half of the last sentence reads like this.

"No model can pick the same item twice..."

It seems a little ambiguous because when they say "Item" you'd think they're referring to wargear. However, when they say item they're referring to anything in the armoury. This includes weapons and battlesuit support systems.

So no, under no circumstance can you purchase 2 of the same weapon because a weapon is an item in the armoury.
