Default IC Army Point restrictions

I was playing 1000 pts at a uni clubroom today when to my horror I encountered Abaddon. Farsight was left on the bench since it was less than 1500. The other guy said that in 5th Ed all army point restrictions of ICs were removed, which meant that I could bring Farsight in.

I did, and we had a fun game. However, I was wondering where was this rule in the book. I couldn't find it when I got home to read the rulebook as well. Anyone has any clues?

Rules for playing an IC vs. points are in the Codex for that IC. I haven't found anything in 5th addition that states that you can do that with an IC.

I am of no help other then to cast serious doubt on this.

No. What I am saying is that my Air Support has lots of Ground Cadre.

If a Land Raider dies to a rail gun, and no one was around to see it, does the kill point still exist?

As Ranzin927 said: it depends on the most recent codex in which Abaddon apprears.

But odds are that the other guy was trying to pull a fast one on you, because I don't recall such rules.

Then again if you both agreed to this in a friendly game then it's ok.

In the new CSM codex Abbadon can be fielded in any game, no matter the points limit, as is the trend (i.e. Eldrad, and all the Eldar characters. It's also going on in WHFB). I think he was just trying to be sporting, and let you use Farsight even though its not legal.

Under that light, yes he was quite sporting ot allow Farsight...so I might indeed be a 5th ed change coming up.

Yep, no more min. point limits for named characters. though the points cost for them is still limiting

In my way of thinking, a Unique character shouldn't show up for anything less than a 2500 pt game, and that's pushing it. These jokers are VERY important and control whole armies... why would they leave most of them behind?

I think GW just wanted people to use them more often

Ya, plus I don't think it's too unbalanced, I mean, in a 1000 point game, Abbadon is more than a quarter of what you can take
