Default ways to spend 132 points on an HQ choice

Hey guys.

I've been driving myself crazy for the past 30 minutes trying to make a pure mech army. Everything was going fine until I came against a brick wall of choosing my last HQ choice. I have 132 points left, and I have some ideas, but I'm not too keen on either of them.

Commander
-shas'o w/ plasma rifle, missile pod, shield generator HW MT

Commander
-shas'el w/ missile pod, flamer, blacksun filter
-shas'vre w/ TL missile pod, targeting array

An obvious variant to the first commander would be to switch the missile pod and the fusion blaster, and I've thought about that too, but nothing seems to be working in my head right now. Thoughts on this?

I run my Commander as:
Commander (can never remember the shas'vre/ shas'o)
plasma gun
fusion blaster
shield generator
Stimulant injector
Multitracker

it equals 117pts. You could sack the Stimulant injector and upgrade him to the 75pt commander and you would be at 132pts exactly.

or just run him at 142 and check with your opponent if being over by 10pts is kosher.

Don't display specific points costs

Here's a fun one to try.

Shas'el
Hardwired Multi-tracker
Hardwired Target Lock
Shield Generator
Iridium Armor
Missile Pod
Plasma Rifle

Excactly 132 points

I imagine he'd be pretty tough to kill with a 2+ armor save and a 4+ invulnerable save. Also, if you had him join a unit he'd be able to shoot independently because of the target lock. Not bad huh?

Does your other commander have one of the special issue weapons?(CIB or AFP). I would always suggest taking a CIB on one of the suits that can.

It's not all that usefull in every situation. It's good against Eldar, Guard and 'Nid swarms. But it's not all that great against Marines or Orks. It would seem to be good against orks but it's really not. The better choice against them is the Air Bursting Fragmentation Projector, especially in 5th edition.

Acutally, CiB is pretty good against marines, it even outperformes the Plasma Rifle outside 12"... (calculations done at BS5)

The Plasma Rifle has 69,4% chance to kill a marine, nad the potential to kill 1 (x2 at rapid fire, duh!)
The Cyclic Ion Blaster has 111,7% chance to kill a marine, and the potential to kill 5!, and it does it at greater range than the Fusion Blaster, which is the only real alternative, imo.

Yeah, but it's only got an 18" range. I like to stay at the 24" range and pepper up the marines with plasma and then hit them with rapid fire when I know that I'll be able to wipe them out. It's a capability that the CIB just doesn't have.

Statisticas are well and good, but actual battlefield capability is something else. Not that you dont have a point. It's a good statistical break down. I just use my suits a little different.

the air frag is now rather good on the commander. minus 5 to the scatter for a large blast, ignoring cover bolter... i think I'll take that :P.

I'd personally go for an 'O with helios, shield gen, and multi track... think that comes to 132... but that also depends on what your other HQ is...

The CIB is better than the airburst. there is no guessing involved, you get 5 shots no matter what, and it benefits from markerlights, all at the loss of only 1 strength.
