Default Apoc Kroot

My friend was thinking about a Kroot Merc army for apoc, when the 'ard boyz tourney information came up. He thinks he'll play his Kroot. He owns 60. I pointed out that at 2500 points he is looking at roughly 350 Kroot.

Has anyone else considered this? Kroot increase survivability exponentially with increase in points. BAMM!

I know I'd hate to see 350 kroot shoooting or charging ;D

use of the strategic assets is key Id imagine. To many pie plate liabilities for kroot to feel the wrath of.

to many birds fall on bullets.

Playing Kroot Mercenaries in a Tournament is technically illegal, since while the Codex was written by GW it's not actually official... unlike the Blood Angels one which is simply a fully sanctioned replacement (so the old Codex is now unofficial). C:KM was also written for 3rd edition. Two editions have come and gone since then. And the Kroot have a distinct lack of antitank weaponry. You'll stand no chance against a Titan unless you simply steer clear of it and grab the objectives... if there are any. :-\
You can, I think, import units from other armies to help with this in Apocalypse. You could sort-of do this anyway, but this way you get to keep your SEA (Signature Evolutionary Adaption). 8)

I would have thought what he could play in a tournament would have been declared by the tournament organisers.

And for anti tank weaponry I am pretty sure Kroot get eviscerators, melta bombs, and Great Knarlocs at a pinch. Besides I am sure you could make yourself a GIANT chicken and call it Chickazilla or something and use the rules for the Scythed Hyrodule.

I guess so, as long as it's not an official GW tournament Although they might still let you play.

Yes, but only one per squad. While you could give every Shaper an Eviscerator, it would cost a huge amount, and for every Shaper that attacks a Titan, 9+ Kroot are wasted for a turn.
Though you could take some Shaper Councils with only Eviscerators. ;D Still pretty mushy, though, so you'd need a lot of protection.
Yeah, you could use specialised Kroot that count as something from another Codex. Though they wouldn't get the Fieldcraft rules and would probably have different statlines.

If it bothers you, just take a Shadowsword ;D

It's Apocalypse, and anybody who tries to play Apocalypse as a Tournament is off their trolley anyway. Shadowsword or Tigershark w/ railguns, that'll pop those tanks. And plenty of space for oodles of Krootles.

Eh-heh, good point. Who says they can't nick a Baneblade occasionally. It's BS3, too, so it makes sense fom a statline point of view. ;D

Kroot Merc armies don't exist any more outside of friendly games and Apoc.

But no, they didn't have heavies (though with Apoc, take your pick).
