Default what is the point of having a squad?

by this i mean wouldnt it be more benificial to have, lets say, three separate crisis suites or broadsides instead of a squad of 3? that way you wouldnt have to worry about leadership tests, they could all move separately, they could all fire at differnt targets in the same turn as if they had a target lock, and they could all become "squad leaders" and select additional wargear. I know this seems like a dumb question but i just dont see the logic of having 3 suites in the same squad instead of seperate. the same applies to pirahnas.

It all depends on the point total of the game. Yes, for smaller games, individual models counting as a "squad" may be better. But when you get into the higher point games, where those slots may be needed for other units, so a squad will be better. Not to mention that when being fired at you have the ability to take more wounds before you loose your ability to lay down fire on that side of the table.

It eats up Elite spots.

That's kinda an important thing when your building on a budget (FOCwise anyways, for Apoc...eh do whatever you want then).

Plus, depending on the build, you can get more protection (more drones before hitting suits etc.)

Oh, and the fabled markerlights work better when shot for a group.

thanks. so, what your saying is that, since my army is only about 500 pts, I should play the suits separately until i run low on elite spots.

well lets put it this way you can have 4 crisis suits if you take them individually (that's assuming 1 of the elites is for stealth suits)... where as taking team allows 12 (again assuming one of the elite slots is taken by stealth suits)
