Default Really cheesy gun drones

I was reading the gun drone thread on weather or not they count as a kill point and thought for a moment. As gundrones are jet pack you could 1. detach them 2. park them behind your firewarriors 3. use their jetpack move to place them in front of you firewarriors, thus conferring a 4+ save.

My friend play marines and we both have fun modelling and tailoring our armies so that it looks as though we are in an active campaign. (I.E. dead marines on my bases, dead tau on his.) Anyway his preferred weapon of choice is the heavy bolter which causes no end of trouble for me if my mobile tau ever hop out of my fish.

Long story short, the 4+ cover save is the exact same as my armour. hourahh. So he is faced with a choice, gun down my drones (wast a turn of shooting) or hit my firewarriors.

They will be of tissue paper and whimpy muscle. In tissue paper armor I clad them and with the mightiest flashlights they will be armed. They will be touched by every sort of plauge or disease to help further make them unhappy, all sickness will blight them. They will have almost no tactics, strategies, but lots of machines so that they can atleast stand up to a foe in battle. They are my tar pit against the Terror. They are the bulk of Humanity. They are my Imperial Guard and they will know much fear!"

A fortress circumvented ceases to be an obstacle. A fortress destroyed ceases to be a threat. Do not forget the difference.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but we were talking about using drones for shielding a loong time ago.

Heck I started a thread about how much more useful they'd be when it was largely still rumors (that later were proven true, much to my dismay).

Quoted for truth.

I doubt the ones that detach from the vehicles count as a kill point though. I have been detaching them in turn one and having them provide cover saves for my suits in order to skimp on the Shield generators.
