Default Alas, Skilled rider...

I knew it well

Sadly a surprise in 5th now has skilled rider only count if the unit type is Bike or Cavalry. While I always found the name funky in 4th, I just assumed it under the same logic of Fleet(of foot/claw etc) and called my El and O's Skilled Flier's. Oh well. I have used this countless times in the day, saving them time and again

A toast to a friend I will dearly miss.

Yep, all IC's automatically have the skilled rider and move through cover special rule(you know, besides vespids?, though they fortunately actually have the Skilled Flyer variant) in 4th as well as in 5th, just now Skilled Rider has an added line

The suits never said they had the rule, and I don't see how you could have misconstrued this. explain your logic? I'm not certian what your reasoning.

All Independent Characters had the rule in the previous edition of the game, while in this one it is only for the Cavalry and Bike units. So while basic Crisis Suits didn't have the rule, our Crisis Commanders did have the rule.

Does it really matter?

They wouldn't be able to use it anyway surely?

Ok, here's the situation: Your wounded Crisis Commander has an absolutely beautiful shot at that horribly placed Leman Russ, all you have to do is get through that forest and fire with all weapons. You move the model up and you lose your final wound to the dangerous terrain test of going into the forest. With Skilled Rider, you could reroll that failed die, while without it you wouldn't be able to reroll and so just die.
