Default Jet Pack Tau?

Hey everyone,

Search seems to be messed up... just thought I'd ask the old fashioned way.

I don't like the look of the Auxillary forces in the Tau Army... too nice looking of an army to add totally different looking units, in my opinion.

I was reading some guide on Games Workshop, an article about one guys Tau army, and he said he was considering making some "Jet Pack Tau" to act as Vespids - he liked the Vespid stats, but didn't like the look of them - so we would make some Tau with custom Jet Packs and make them "Count As" Vespids.

I was wondering if a) this is allowed, and b) anyone has any picturesof Fire Warriors or other Tau converted like this.

Thanks guys!

Unless your opponent is evil personified they should let you use them

Yes, in most unnoficial games, count-as models are accepted. I have used 3by5 index cards as "count-as" rhinos.

I'd look in the showcase or conversion board.

If you go to the effort of converting jet pack fire warriors to be used as vespid I see no reason why they couldn't be used in 'official' tournament games. As long as you explain what they are to your opponent.

No, if they are evil personified they won't point out to you how worthless vespid are and fully support you using them just so they can enjoy eviserating you.

Advanced tracking-targetting systems to better follow moving targets and experimental 'segmented' carapace armour, designed to absorb the impact of a blast and spread it across a wider area.
Easy enough, you just gotta use that thing between your ears.

I've seen some cool looking ninja style fire warriors used to represent kroot.

It'll be great if you did make some Jet Pack confersions. And as said before, you should be able to legally field them. Some people might refuse to play against Forgeworld units and non-GW codexes*, and others might even refuse to play against 'count as' units, but if they're going to be that much of a stuck-up, tight-ass, pretensios bastard, you might not want to play with them anyway.

*within reason

They're quite a 'glass cannon' unit. They're great for hit-and-running MEQs, but won't last much longer to do anything else.
