Default Jet Pack Infantry and new Run rule

Just an idle thought / question:

With the new Run rule in 5th will our jump infantry be able to move 6", run, then move 6" in the assault phase? (I know the rule states that units can't assault and run, but I'm not sure the 2nd move counts as an assault)

I was wondering this.
I think the move in assault counts as an assault move but doesn't have to be at the enemy.

The second move counts as part of the assault phase. However, you would have to also look up the relentless rule as well as the jet pack movement rules for assault phase in 5th.

Our 5th edition rules errata, oops I mean update might shed more light on that when it comes. We've really got to just hold tight until that day. :-[

I'll have to check next time I'm at my local game store, but I think jet pack can move in all 3 phases. They can't assault if they run, though.

Hmm, it says that units can't assault if they run, but says in the jet pack rules that they can ALWAYS move in the assault phase, same for Jetbikes too..

lol nice to see 5th ed is full of lovely contradictions as 4th ed ;D i would of thought that it could do all free... because it's sacrificing its shooting for moving... and you can then not assult... kinda like rapid fire... except you fire and cant assult... of course this is null and void for jet packs as they can assult after rapid fire... so I'd guess they can either JJJ or JSJ

thats my take on the rule...

I would say that, yes, our Jet Pack's can run in the shooting phase, just like any other infantry model.

Besides, can't regular Jump Infantry move 12", Run, and then simply not assault?

jump infantry and bikes cannot run, jet packs however have the relentless rule meaning they always count as stationary for weapons fire purposes.
