Default Tau, Worth collecting?

From all the fluff and rumours going around I feel the time has come to stop collecting Tau. I have a 4000 point tau army and am a devoted player but it seems the GW are restricting Tau to much and are going to be restricted much more in the 5Th edition. Are the Tau being faded out? Or are the GW just being picky and the Tau are fine? I cant make my mind up.

Until we actually see the book - don't listen to the naysayers.

And there is no reason to give up Tau, we will be fine. We will need a tweak, yeah, but so will a lot of armies.

No point making mountains out of molehills.

That is the right answer. Tau will be different per se, but fine. Seriously, don't get too worked up about it... it's not a reason to give up your whole army!

Indeed. Tau are ALWAYS worth sticking with! So a few things get us screwed, but the army is beautiful regardless ;-)

Just as an aside, regarding the 5e rulebook....it's ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!! GW have gone to town on this one. The presentation is second to none and the fluffy section is just stunning!

5th edition isn't going to kill any army. It is, however, going to change the way practically every army is currently played.

I for one am an optimist when it comes to 5th edition. The new Terrain and LoS rules should make our long-range guns that much more deadly, considering all the lovely sniping opportunities you'll get to take advantage of. And the new Jump Infantry (Jet Pack) rules mean JSJ Markerlights!

Yeah, because its virtually a duplicate thread of the many around, and I'm tired of people panicking over 5th rumours.

Give...up...Tau..? Art thou mad!

If you've got 4000 points of Tau, it shouldn't matter how the rules change, you're obviously devoted to the greater good.

Besides, like many are saying - wait and see how the rules change, that's when the real decision making should begin, until then it's all speculation.

Stay strong, for Tau!

limited railguns, and all but guaranteed 4+ or 5+ cover saves for all vehicles that negate any and ALL damage...

the only boon we get is rail rifles and other ap3 and lower guns ignore FNP...

And in fairness, the new LOS rules screw over tau. No area terrain means suits can't hide. meaning JSJing out of cover is dead. vehicles can't hide either.
then there are the new grenade rules which utterly nwef kroot.

oh, and no more scoring hammerheads...

in over priced stealthsuit squads, and you get ONE.....

'sides, remember, JSJ is pretty much gone, unless its from behind a skimmer.
