Default Potential Fifth edition tactics and suggestions.

I'm tired of the complaining. I've done a small amount myself. Let's kick off the next edition with tactics that are based upon the rumored rules.

Gun Drone shields
With JSJ abilities and weapons that can pin, these are excellent units to shield more valuable ones from enemy fire and also close combat! Imagine these hiding Broadsides, move to the side to help attack any nearby units or just to get out of the way, Broadsides fire and then the Drones can jump back in front/around the unit. They can also be used for my next tactic...

Cherry picking shots
The ultimate sniper, is a commander who can move his/her units into the exact ranges and LOS needed to remove models that fall in their firing lanes. With models now blocking line-of-sight, everyone will need to be on the watch for new/unusual formations utilizing the new rules and integrate the effective ones in their army. A small unit can be manipulated in a way so that the plasma gunner, broodlord, or other models can be easily spotted and summarily destroyed.

Gun Drones
Obviously, I think our little floating buddies have gotten a boost with the upcoming rules. With the advent of strength 4 or under weaponry being defensive, I see more of these little guys being taken as standard. They are very versatile units that can act as free shields (don't know how vehicles will mix with them, but I'd wager they don't block LOS) to the vehicle or units on the ground.
Now that our Ships can get penetrated results thrown at them much more easily, a well placed duo of Gun Drones can stop or divert a charge quite admirably.

If you guy's think of anything else just post it!

Hopefully these ideas will help in some small way for the give-and-take relationship we enjoy with GW. We tend to come up with ideas and tactics faster than they can take them from us!

We can't spread or link to it legally. Google searching should bring it up though.

Regardless, it is still SPECULATION. Not the hard facts that are the new rules. I will leave my strategizing till the 5th edition release in July.

I'm with him. Does anybody remember the move from 3rd to 4th edition? Most people hated 4th edition, but in retrospect it became more like "3.5 edition", and hopefully 5th edition won't be as bad as people are making out to be, and in fact become a much more tactical game.

In my opinion though, one of the things I don't think needs to be added in there was running. Units that are meant to go fast have Fleet of Foot, and units meant to go at a normal infantry speed go at a normal infantry speed. There are a few wild cards, but for the most part I think they had it right.

So far I'm liking what I'm seeing with your proposed tactics, this pretty much looks to mean that I will be adding in those two broadsides in my army in exchange for a railhead :P

Finally, drones are going back to what they we're loved/hated: Little Frisbees of doom, that pin, screen more important units and boomerang to boot!

I couldn't help but notice..."We're losing a lot of stuff guys, but look at what we get instead: gun drones!"

...every other army gets "Assault 40k", we get gun drone screening.

Anyway, like it's been said 5th is still a long way off, and we don't know for sure what the hell is in it since GW is being so damn secretive about it (which kinda worries me).

The gun drones are just what things I have thought up so far, I'm sure other things will pop up once we start getting more info.

Plus, I love gun drones.

I thought I remember someone coming up with a devilfish ramming idea to counter a possible comeback of the rhino rush...

Someone also mentioned landing a devilfish to use it as cover, but that's something you can do now, isn't it?
