Default Seeker missle question

Ok, this situation came up a few weeks ago and wanted to get your guys' opinion on it.

My opponent had deep-struck a dreadnaught into my deployment zone. The dreadnaught was facing so that its back was facing my Piranha on the other side of the board, but also directly against a size 3 building. I fired a markerlight at the dreadnaught, hitting it. I then fired a seeker missle at the dreadnaught, but my opponent said it would hit the side armor because the back of the dreadnaught was facing the building. Is this true?

The rules, as I read it, states that the seeker missile will hit whatever side is facing the source of the seeker missile.

How i always played it was making terrain "see-through." So no matter how much of that side is covered you still can hit it. It just makes things so much easier, since arguments of how a missile curves through the air won't arise. :

From what i understand from your post is that the dreadnaught was in front of a building but near one of the corners. So that the missile would have to go around the building thus hitting the side and not the back. I would say that you did hit the dreadnaught's back and not the side.

Well, it doesn't hit where the light hits, actually. The rules say it hits in a straight line from where the seeker is coming from, in this case a piranha.

Here's a graphic of how it went down:

So yes the missile would hit the back of the dreadnaught and not the side. So your opponent was wrong. Hunter Killer Missiles work the same way from the Imperial codices.

ARgh! I thought so! That dreadnaught would have been toast! It was 14 Front and Side, 10 back.
