Default Broadside Tactics

I've decided to invest in Broadsides to fill my army's railgun gap. I'm extremely new to the game, and I'd rather not put money and points into something that's just going to get slaughtered outright as a result of my inexperience. Chances are this will happen anyway, but I figured I should see how other, more experienced players take full advantage of their Broadsides.

If you would like to share your favorite Broadside tactics, or if you have any other helpful tips, I'd appreciate your input.

This thread should prove to be of great help.
It's a Tactica on broadside use by Tonka, one of the foremost experts we have on Tau.

Broadsides are definately a strong take; they are one of Tau's staple units.

While a little pricey model-wise, they are very powerful, so you should not need more than 1 (or at most 2) in a small game, say, 1000 points or less.

I agree completely, though I WOULD play two of them in games greater than 1.000 points.

Another thing: ALWAYS add Shield Drones. Lone Broadsides die all too easy to Lascannon fire, so better be safe than sorry.

Apart from this, Tonka`s guide will tell you everything you want to know (and everything you don`t want to know, as well ) about Broadsides.

Cheers,
-Bone

I Like to stick my Broadsides somewhere far away, and can see almost the whole field that's what I do and it works. They never die and that range is just the coolest thing ever to have in a tau army. S10/AP1!

EDIT By RZ: Please use spell check, and normal english, this isn't a chatroom or MSN.

I like to place broadsides behind good cover, maybe size 2/3 whilst leaving them within range to fire at enemy transports/tanks.
The broadsides are also good at providing nice cover fire or simply waiting for your forces to push some enemies into there range.

When I do use Broadsides, I tend to put them up on the highest and most inaccessible building and just bunker myself in there and control one side of the table. 3 twin-linked railguns with Targetting array that can see almost everything in sight can limit the maneuver of almost all huge units, from Carnifexes to Land Raiders.
