Click here for some info on the Tau Empire's Sept but otherwise read the codex. It should around the last few pages.

EDIT: OH! Just found it here

Normally I'd suggest taking a look at the 40k Lexicanum (Which Zen Ai has done while I was posting), but I already did and there's very little excess fluff for the septs.

I guess I'll suggest taking a look into some of the Black Library's novels, though. I know the first of the Ciaphus Cain books has the Tau in it, although very little about the septs. The book Fire Warrior (if you can find it) I've heard has a lot of interesting Tau fluff. Unfortunately, since being discontinued, it's become horribly rare. I've yet to see a copy. Another book might be the Last Chancer series. While I'm yet to read it, I know it deals with some Tau.

Your best bet might be the Rouge Trader series, though. That'd be Rouge Star and Stars of Damocles. The first one has some Tau involvement (and some epic space battles) and, from what I've heard, the second one (Stars of Damocles) has a lot more Tau in it. It might be a good book it look in to.

Hope that was some help and best of luck,

-Grandpa Ducky

EDIT: Hope you guys don't mind an Ork posting over here.

[i]Good job on the references. 1+ Karma - C_V

I have the last copy of Fire Warrior that Amazon had. I'll sell it to you for a lot of money. (My library back in Arkansas has one. It's really torn up but I'm the only one who checked it out. I'll steal it for you want. (yes, I will steal from a library. Especially when I'm the only one who even knew about the book's existence.))

Anyway, Fire Warrior IS a rather nice source of Tau fluff, however, it lacks information on the various Septs. I've done a lot of searches for some Tau sept info and I can't say that I've found anything. As of now, the best source for information would be your Codex. :-\ Even the IA3 book didn't have much regarding the septs.

Also, the Last Chancer's book Grandpa_Ducky refers to is called "Kill-Team" and it's an "eh" source. It has a lot of information about Tau culture though.

I haven't read any of the "Rogue Trader" series although I'd very much like to so I can't help you any there.

To wrap it up, here's a break down of the various sources that I know of:
Lexicanium: Like Wiki, it usually has helpful info, but realize it's being updated daily.
Kill-Team: The source for an insight into Tau Culture. 4/5 when it comes to helpful info.
Fire Warrior: The source for insight on Tau military tech and procedures. 5/5 when it comes to a good read and quite high on useful info.
IA3: The best source for insight on Tau military tech and procedures. 10/5 when it comes to useful information. (It's really expensive though. :-\)

If you need any more help, drop me a line sometime, eh? ;D
