Default Crises to Broadside?

I'm a poor college kid and I can't see myself spending 105 dollars just to buy three broadsides, especially when I have a plethora of Crises already.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make some Broadside railguns so I can convert regular Crises into Broadsides?

Don't know really, try making some out of cardboard and greenstuff. SMS can be modeled by missile pods replacing the hands.

I agree that the cost of broadsides is hellish compared to what you get in the end. You can do one of a few things that I found better:

1- buy the metal parts online from ebay and then slap em on a crisis
2- Scratch build the rail guns from plastic card and then use spare missle pods to make up the rest.
3- find a good store with lots of gundam kits and start looking for equivilant weapons or "close enough" model kits. Some will whine WYSIWYG in a tourny, but on the cheap a big model kit gets you a lot more for less.

Me personally went the online route. Ive bought all my tau in auction or from ebay stores, and have basically gotten the army for less then half the price (but twice the time since you have to wait for shipping) but the bonus is you can even get sprues or metal option seperate for any conversions that way.

EDIT by RZ: While this advice isn't technically against forum rules, it's certainly against forum policy, and we do not endorse such advice.

i think whatever "enderwiggin" said is against forum rules not what you said. thats why RZ edited it out

105 dollars for 3 broadsides????? it costs like 15 for one broadside in the UK where are you buying this stuff? even if you double that for dollars ($30) and times it by 3 ($90) thats ridiculus

If you're extremely lucky, they might just have some railguns in your local GW's bitz box...

Sorry if you knew this already, but may i point put that you don't need 3 to form a unit. One will do.

I know I don't need three, but I like having three. And Broadsides are $35 each.

you will realy only ever need 2 in a <2000 point game, so that is just $70 (still a good chunk of money). I remember seeing on CMON someone made a broadside using a regular battle suit with the missle pods and holding the hammerhead railgun, so if you are using skyrays or ionheads you could do that, looks a little funny but I think it gets the job done.
remember the discription says it is a linnier accelerator, so really any long thin retangle will work.
