Default A Question on Scoring Units

I read that a commander is not a scoring unit, and being a noob I am iffy on the scoring unit rules, so is a commander with a bodyguard scoring? What about with drones?

Watch the grammar there, the forum does require a little better than Instant Messages.

A Commander is NEVER scoring, even with Drones (they are equipment, after all).

A Commander with a Bodyguard still isn`t scoring; but his Bodyguard is.

Independent characters for any army are always non-scoring.

Page 85 of the Big Black Book. There`s a table which explains what units are when scoring, and how many VPs the opponent gets for destroying/damaging them (yes, non-scoring are still worth VP for the opponent if destroyed).

Am I correct in thinking a single Broadside counts as a scoring unit?

Also, if it had 2 shield drones, would it lose scoring status if 2 of them died?

Yes, the broadside is scoring, but I think if the drones die, it is non-scoring.

Yes, a single Broadside is scoring, as would be a single Crisis.

If Drones accompany the unit, I refer you to page 31 of the Codex: Tau Empire, where the Drones are explained - they count for purposes of squad strength as full members or the team; so a single Broadside which lost its Shield Drones would be 1) under 50% strength (and therefore non-scoring) AND 2) would have to take "All on its own"-tests every turn.

Cheers,
-Bone
