Default Commanders of the Greater Good

Is it possible to have 2 Shas'Os 2 Shas'Els or a mixture of the two?

I am under the impression that it is illegal to do this but if I can have two really shooty commanders then that is even more wonderful.

Of course you can. What makes you think it's illegal?

Whgy would it be illegal? You may select two HQs, according to the FOC, and one is compulsary, and with the Commander being a 1+ option, you must select one commander.

A second is perfectly legal. And fun!

I was just unsure because I have never seen it done before and the Red Shirts at my GW store weren't sure of the rule either, the senior staff members there weren't in that day, but now that I know I'm allowed to do this I can get EVEN MORE CRISIS SUITS!!!

How can you be unsure? Your redshirts should know better. The entry is 1+, and there are two HQ slots on a standard FO chart... I don't see how this could be misconstrued =/

But, if you want a nice HQ choice, take some Shas'vre bodyguards with your commander. They can take all the weapons and wargear choices as your commander, just they have a slightly lower Leadership ;D

And they're a friggen waste of points! Don't forget that one. Blargh, who wants a team of 35 point(base!) shas'vres? It seems cool at first, but that's 30 points wasted on nothing.

Independent Character Commanders are alot tougher than bodyguard teams. Move through cover, Skilled rider and not being able to be shot unless they're the closest target is just awesome. Your Shas'els and Os are NINJA! Don't force them to team up with those bumbling Knights. Utilize their advantages.

To really fill up on Crisis suits in your HQ slots you could take

Farsight and his maximum of 7 bodyguards
Another HQ and his maximum of 2 bodyguards

Giving you 11 suits just in your HQ slots.

Lol I don't know anyone who actually does this as the points would be though the roof but just thought I would mention it.

I personally have run Farsight with 4 Bodyguards to good effect but that was it.

Anyway just thought I would chuck my 2 pence worth in

A bit silly but still legal.

Food for thought maybe.

Cheers

But that's 4 HQ slots :P bodyguards count as a seperate HQ choice

Does it say in the rulebook that all independent characters are HQ units, because it says nowhere in the Codex that Farsight, Aun'va, and Shadowsun are HQ units

No? Bodyguards are taken with your Commander, they do not take up a separate slot.
And read your codex again, they all say they're HQ units (I believe Aun'Va and Farsight state you still need the mandatory Commander while Shadowsun can be taken as the mandatory commander).
