My tau codex is on it's way, but I've been wondering about the Farsight enclaves as my paint scheme will be like how GW painted Farsight. So to the point; are there any rules for using a 'Farsight' army or do i have to set my own restrictions?

Yeah, I'm afraid I don't have the specifics with me, but they limit access to certain non-crisis suit units, while obviously perhaps, making crisis suits more accessible.

There are still rules in the codex, and they are pretty clear.

If you look at Farsight's profile in the book, under "breakaway faction" it will tell you the restrictions.

I've just started making a Farsight list and run into a hitch....In the codex it states that Crisis Suits count as 1+ in the same way as Firewarriors. Originally I read this as 'crisis suits can be taken as troops' and made a fun list. Nothing OP, takes quite a bit of finessing to get anything done. Anyways, another Tau player brought up the argument that they might not count as troops, just that you are required to take at least one squad.
Army Builder confirmed that, it only allows them as Elites. That sucks. If this is indeed the correct reading, you get an 800 pt command squad (average 60 pts per suit + 14 shield drones) that never scores and becomes a beat stick. Any help from Tau Online? Ultimateframe |

Farsight does not allow you to take Crisis Suits as troops. Farsight makes everything that isn't Crisis Suits and Fire Warriors 0-1 or forbidden. The only advantage is that you get to take Farsight, who is a decent close combat fighter.
It is not a list you want to take if you looking for a competitive army.
