I just started warhammer 40k officially this week since i bought a pack of Tau firewarriors and tau codex! ;D
I was just wondering, whats the difference between the XV15 and XV25 stealthsuits...which ones better?

The XV15 is the old model (metal mini from Codex: Tau (2001)), the XV25 is the newer, plastic one.

There is really no difference between the two rules-wise; model-wise the difference is the material (plastic is easier to convert), and you can add hardpoints to the XV25.

Welcome to the greater Good,

Cheers,

I would say go with the plastic. They're counted the same games-wise, but the plastics are easier in every way. Converting, modeling, painting, thaey dont fall over, and so on. Plus, all told, they're cheaper. And THAT'S important.

There is no difference between them game wise. I like the new plastic one because they are plastic and are easier to paint/model.

However since the metal ones are no longer made to have them, in my opinion, makes them some sort of collectable!

Some people do seem to like the old ones because they look cooler. The new ones remind my friend of eggs.(He hates eggs) :P :P

I HATE to burst your bubble, but the plastic suits are actually more expensive than the old, metal ones. Trust me on this.

Simple math.

In Canada:
The XV25 are 40$ for 3 (13.33$ each)
The XV15 are 16$ for 2 (8$ each)
The XV15 leader is 16$

In the UK
the XV25 are £12 for 3 (£4 each)
the XV15 are £7 for 2 (£3.50 each)
the XV15 leader is £7

In the US
the XV25 are 20$ for 3 (6.66$ each)
the Xv15 are 12$ for 2 (6$)
the XV15 leader is 12$

So the XV15 are cheaper since the shas'vre is optional (and include a shield drone)

Also the metal ones don't have the option for a Fusion Blaster.

The metal ones are only sort of cheaper in the US, even if you don't want a Shas'vre. The plastic team of 3 comes with a marker drone too.

I never have - and never will - use a Stealth Suit with FB.

And the Marker Drone is, right now, arguably one of the worst units in the Codex.

So you were actually better off buying metal ones - though, of course, these times are over
