Which tau Forge world model??

I really like the forge world stuff as it expands on the tau range adding some great models and rules.
The only thing is i don't happen to have 100 spare to buy the things i would REALLY like. I realistically only have about 30 spare and could maybe scrape abit more if i tried.
I want a model that will be useful in a tau army though and reading through what is available there doesn't seem to be a great deal thats useful.
Heres what i think on the models i have looked at:

All of the forge world Hammerhead configurations seem abit pointless as looking at their stats compared to the railgun or ion cannon it seems the 2 normal options are better.

Battlesuits:
XV-81: Pointless as it can't move and shoot its SMS and can't have an ADV stabilization system
XV-84:Pointless as it can't move and shoot its MKL and can't have an ADV stabilization system
XV-89: If you look at the model its just got a different head, two stealth team shoulder pads on its shoulders and practically 2 FW shoulder pads on its knees.
Shas'o R'myr's: Not doing special characters even though it seems to be the nicest suit and could be used a a commander suit.

Broadside:
XV-88-2: The fact you can do this with a normal broadside makes it obsolete for me as i really want a new model for gaming purposes.

Tetra: I find my piranhas pretty liable to blow up very quickly and as this seems the same armour and open-topped i'm wondering is it worth it (really like the idea and model though would like to hear opinions and people experience with it the most).

Heavy Gun drone: Don't really like the model but i am open to opinions and other peoples experience.

Drone Sentry Turrets: Interesting but have to choose which weapons beforehand, unless i can magnetize (using magnets of course) them with suit weapons?? Would also like to know other people experience and opinions with them.

Remote Sensor Tower: seems to be a tad expensive (points wise) for being pretty flimsy, but again would also like to know other people experience and opinions with them.

Greater Knarloc: Got two already ;D

Knarloc rider: Just not to sure ???

Tau Remora Stealth Fighter:Only flyer i can afford, but the rules aren't up on the FW site to download anymore so i don't know what to think.

Piranha TX-42: Interested as it seems to be able to survive alot better, but does cost alot more points than a standard one. Is it worth it??

Like to know anyones opinion on this matter, and thanks for reading ;D

Id say you get a tetra or remora (i can see if i get around to send the rules to you)
If you play a lot of cityfight, id say the hammerhead turrets are REALLY good. You are usually around 24-36" away, so whats the point of extreme range rather than a real fusion gun!

I think the XV-89 and XV-88-2 are the best bets. They're the models that you can use without having your opponents permission since they don't have special rules ( the 89 actually does but it can count as a XV8 ). The 89 is more than some extra bits on an XV 8. The legs are differently built and are fully posable. The arms are different. The only XV 8 bits it uses are the chest and back pack.

I think the Hammerhead variants are good for city fight. Heavy Gun drones for those swarm armies (Nids, Guard, and Orks). Tetras for mobile markerlight fire. And that's it. I mean, I didn't like any of the suit configurations other than the standards, and the remote sensor tower would be okay for fluff or something.

I suppose it's down to your style. I prefer mobile so I'd have more tanks, tetras, gun drones, and devilfish. If I were playing static, remote tower and drone sentries.

Here's a question though: Can units with a drone controller take a Heavy Gun Drone? ???

Awwww man. I had seen the XV81 and I thought that was just a twin-linked missle pod on his back. That sucks that it is a smart missle system. I like the remora and the heavy gun drones.

Nothing wrong with counting it as a TL-MP.

If you're looking for something to "spice up" you Tau army, I'd definitely recommend the Remoras. They're the only cheap flier, and you get two to boot! Everything else on that list is much too much like stuff that we already have access to in the codex.

Actually, I dont know if apocalypse has different battlesuit rules, but normally they can only have a maximum of 3 weapons. The XV81 with PR, BC and TL MP would be to many weapons. Correct me if I am wrong though.

Yes that would be too many, but no one said anything about adding a PR and BC.

Tetras are ace.

The XV81 models can be used as a normal XV8 with a Missile Pod.

The Twinlinked Fusion Cannon turret is on par with the "standard" Hammerhead turret options ... it's just good for killing different things (primarily land based vehicles and deep-striking Terminators!).

All of the above are great options for the budget minded resin seeker who wants something they can use with good success.
