All are unique and all have advantages when used correctly but I will vote for the battlesuit because it has the most options and can be changed to fit many roles

Well, to be honest it is not the matter of units, it is more how they work together.

I mean if you just eat Mayonnaise like that, it sucks, but when you put it with lettuce, tomatoes, ham, and bread, it is a nice meal. The same goes with the Tau. Each unit on its own does not do much, but when they are combined together with combos, they are powerful.

Another one of the Tau's main strong points is localized suppressive firepower. They are good in concentrating fire on one particular unit and obliterating them before they move on to the next target.

For Mechanized armies, VP denial is one of the advantages for most things tend to be in vehicles/ are vehicles or can JSJ. This negates a certain element of the opponent's list and also make life more dificult for them.

I think he was rethorical...
Anyways. Hes pretty much right. But i would vote for the markerlight as one of our most valuable assets. It makes any other weapon fit for doing a thing they arent made for originally...

I know the grumbling I hear most from the enemy is how Tau firing always have the following 'unfair' phrases:

"Wounds on 2+"
or even
"Wounds on 3+"

Then theres always:
"sorry, ap2. those terminators only get their invulnerable save."

And then the 'gizmo' factors
"you cant fire more than 1 weapon each turn" "multitracker"
"how can that tank move 12" and still fire all its guns?!" "multitracker"
"how can you split those railgun shots to different targets?" "Targetlock"
"my tanks cant split their fire to different things, how come yours can?" "targetlock"
"what do you mean your rapidfiring warriors are BS5, and I dont get a cover save, and I'm -4 to morale checks?!?" "markerlights"

I think those are the fundamental aspects of two key Tau advantages: their hard hitting gunnery, and the technoligical gizmos that let them do more than the average bear.. er.. army.

And After all those complaints, theres still:

You cant fire your railgun! Your broadside moved! "Advanced stabilisation system"
You moved you battlesuit, then fired a rapid fire gun at full range! "Battlesuits can do that!"
AND THEN YOU MOVE 6" MORE IN THE ASSAULT PHASE, AND YOU DIDNT EVEN ASSAULT! "Woa! sorry, but we have jetpacks :P"

That's a toughie. Right now, I voted for Battlesuits. They can be configured to round out your force, and can take on a plethora of enemy units when configured right.

However, if the changes are correct for 5th edition, in that Jet Pack infantry can fire heavy weapons, Stealth teams, but more particularly, Markerlights just went up a whole notch. I could see a new kind of force, where it focuses on destroying one unit at a time with super-accurate fire at BS 5, though less actual shots. A very scary thing indeed. A markerlight that can JSJ and has a stealth field.

Railguns take the cake in my book. None scattering, ap1 weapon. It is the weapon that makes all armor obsolete. Monoliths 14 14 14 and land raiders 14 14 14 are still little protection against it. Markerlights are also great, people complain about our low BS but, we have a way to overcome that and when tau weapons are accurate, we are the best shooting army on the table in my opinion. The only kind of fire we can't match is indirect fire, like IG have. Other than that, we have everyone smoked.
