have you actuallly bought one of those things? The reason there are no tactics out there is beacuase theya re too expensive for the average gamer (make that virtually all gamers!) to buy...awsome model when on the table, i prefer the abrracuda myself for pure looks. Interestingly i thin kthe orca comes with special minatures (fire warriors, crissis suits, ethereal) that fit inside it...they can probably be easily converted to stand on a battlefield but what did you actually get in your kit if you bought the orca?

In it you get enough to make
-24 Frie warriors, seated, so it would take lots a converting to make them standerd FW's
-6 crisis, seated, easy to change just rearange the legs
-8 or 10 drones, racked, all yuo need is flying bases
-1 ethreal- same as FW's
-2 Crew (IIRC)
-1 Orca (of course)

I think it is a waste, all it has for guns is one TL long barraled burst cannon. It's ability to drop troops isn't great and as it comes on in reserve its not certain to come on when you wan it

models like this and the barraccuda are purely for display, and IMO the barracuda is a much nicer model (and cheaper!) than the orca...despite the things you get inside the orca if you want somethign for display go for the barracuda, if you want something for practicality ditch both and buy a box of fire warrirors!

No, there are rules for Orcas but I have no idea what they are; I think they're in Imp Armor. I'd just go after normal models and not bother with this $400 resin thing.

I have the Imperial Armor Update and I can't find the rules. Where there two updates?

I can't say I like the look of the Orca. My first reaction was that it would be pretty easy to scratch-build, since it isn't much more than a big box with directional thrusters.

It's not in IA. It's still in a PDF of Forgeworld's site.

Good point Khanaris. Next time I get my hands on a Fire Warriors or Kroot box set-sized thing I'll buy up an engine sprue and make an Orca! Or maybe not. :P

I can't find it. *Its profile in the Tau section is sending me to Imperial Armor Update 2004 (which is not the version I have).
