Default broadsides with a.s.s

Ok i understand how useful the a.s.s. is in that you can depoly behind cover, then move and fire, whereas normally to do so would cost you a turn of fire. However, I am not favored by the dice gods, and have to run things TL'ed or with light support. I am in the process of creating a static 1000 point list with 3 broadsides as (basically) my only anti-armor and I need to make sure their shots count. I dont want to use sheild drones (crazy right???) because i have some rather experiences with last man standing checks and such. I plan to have them survive by using their range to stay out of trouble and taking out any heavy hitters early with concentrated fire.

My question is this...

Will broadsides be fine in a static list if I dont give them a.s.s and just rely on good deployment? If I spread them out properly I would be able to cover the whole map without having to move right?

well, unlucky dice are there. However an A.S.S would still allow you to fire, and you would be able to move.

its just that deploying in a covenient way isnt always there.

are you running one lone broadside?

or more then one?

then dont worry so much...if anything your opponent may just end up wasting shots trying to take down one broadside.

maybe they will end up unable to shoot at anything but the broadside of a barn ;D (couldnt resist)

Agreed. with 3 monats you should be able deploy them so that nothing can hide from all of them at once, making movement unnecessary. I fielded 2 monats when I first started, one at either side of the table. I still like referring to them as Port and Starboard Broadsides!

Instead of A.S.S., what are you giving them for support? Plasma Rifles and Multi-trackers?

Why do Monats when you can use Target Locks and a HW Drone Controller on the Shas'vre? Free's up 2 Hvy for delicious Sniper Teams.

Remember the other advantage of A.s.s is

It's the thinking mans' stupidly powerful heavy weapons team of choice.

My subtle diagram disagrees with you.
your "subtle" diagram contains Optimus Prime and Proffessor Farnsworth, it's heresy in it's own right!
Any similarities between your reality and mine are purely coincidental...

Yeah there's been a lot of new people on this forum asking same questions..
sigh,
Three singular broadsides are good, at least your thinking right, but remember you still have to give them one upgrade to fill up their hard-point slots, I would recommend a.s.s as its extremely useful, otherwisw your broadsides will get shot in first turn.

I wanted to give them TA to ensure they hit home.

As of yesterday, all of my close gaming buddies have made mech lists (maybe admiring mine? ;D) and I wanted to do a majorly static list to break the monotomy. I am especially concerned with a guard friend of mine who always pulls wins against me in the last 2 or 3 turns. He just made a very formidable list with 2 or 3 lemans, and remember that it is a 1000 point list! To me, this was unheard of! But anyway, just so you guys know, in terms of heavy support choices, I am quite limited.
