Default Tau + crons in a 1000pt doubles tournament

So, at my local GW on thursday 3rd jan, there is a 1000pt doubles tournament.

I asked my friend, who has 'crons, whether he'd be interested. He said yes.

His army consists of:

lord
24 warriors in two squads of 12
6 scarab bases
2 wraiths
tomb spyder

which with a bit of upgrading and pushing should make 1000 points.

The question is left to me: how should I equip my army?

My current list I am considering is:

Aurora+ 'El ('el with PR, CIB, TA, HWMT, Stims) (110)
3 DR+ (159)
2x 12 FW with 'ui, bonding knife. (270)
2x Broadsides with ASS. (160)
4x Piranhas with FB, TA, DL. (300)

Total: 999

I also have a few tanks, 6 stealths, a small squad of kroot, and countless gun drones.

Any feedback or advice from the 'cron and Tau players out there?

I'm not aware broadsides could take bottoms But it does seem to make up for yours friends lack of anti tank (Guass flayers are nice but Fusion blaster are better)

WTF My post isn't counted in the little post counter! Tell me if you can read this.

I can read it fine...What do you mean by taking "bottoms" though?

Advanced stabalization systems are ancronymed into A.S.S, which the filter cuts out.

Could someone actually post something helpful?

Some one woke up on the wrong street. Why should we help you when our comments are insulted?

Take out a Piranha and maybe add in a sniper drones team/fish for FW

Don't worry, I'll give some advice.

Well, let's see what your friend has first off.

He doesn't have alot of models, which is to be expected of crons, nor is he particularly fast. However, if his Lord had a Veil of Darkness that would definitely increase the speed of the army. Having a VoD would allow for late game objective grabbing as well as early game rapid firing. I'm not sure if he can take both VoD and an Orb though. If he can take both, otherwise... Hard call.

Now for your list. You're list is pretty static, with the exceptions of the pirahnas, so you'll have a hard time grabbing objectives. I'd recommend trying to find some room for either the stealths or the kroot. I'd suggest the Gun Drones too, but you don't really have the FoC slots for them. The infiltration of both the stealths and the kroot will allow you to have models anywhere on the board and have models where you want them to be. However, if you can't fit the stealths, no big deal, use the kroot in one of two fashions; wither do the turret strategy (hiding in a wood 7" back and shooting out), or use them for a counter charge. With your army being so static I think the counter charge may be more useful. Both you and your partner are weak in the melee department, which means that you will need every turn of shooting you can get so that you can at least hold against an opponent in assault. The wraith, Tomb Spider, scarabs, and kroot would all be decent counter charges. The firewarriors look good, but if you can give them Photon grenades. Since they are static, getting charged is almost a guarantee. If you can find the room for a devilfish for one of the squads that'd help with alot of things. Also a way to make room for more points would be to have a kroot squad and a mounted FW squad as your troops choices. You need some low AP guns for those pesky MEQs and TEQs. I would recommend an Ionhead if you can and/or some TL-plasma rifle suits. Those will help your 'el with the 3+ fellows.

That's all I can think of now. Hope that helps.

tell the cron player to get some destroyers, they are very powerful in 1000pts. They are widely used for a reason.

i agree with korik, you need some mobility in there. I would drop the broadsides. You have all the anti tank in there you will need. Instead take a hammerhead, as a good all rounder.

In my opinion, if you have points spare, always take the shas'o, 25 points for an extra ws, bs, attack, i, wound, and ld are points well spent
